I *heart* broccoli! Especially purple broccoli. I love it raw and normally eat it every day!
Bring on the broccoli, I say! :D

My husband, who at times demonstrates a 5-year-old mentality (no offense to your son of course!), says that cooked broccoli smells like "ass". Ah, how I love that man.

Oh no! I didn't intend to ruin the I Love Broccoli Support Thread. (But now you have to share ...)

You DO have to share on here... I already shared my cabbage tomato sandwiche story somewhere over on the other thread. But frankly it's your hubby's description of broccoli smelling like "ass" that changes the whole climate for me.
I think that's absolutely HILARIOUS.
I have a serious mind connection to my food. I was up all night sick once after eating a whole bushel of grapes when I was a kid... at least the dawn was pretty. :o
Haven't touched a grape since.
I never, ever ate olives either until last year when someone bought very expensive ones from Italy... shipped right over (he owns a restaurant) so I figured if I was ever going to try them it would be then. (I have quality issues too ~ sigh... I'm really not as high-maintenance as I'm coming across... really!) Anyway, LOVED them ~ must have been a good variety. Everything was going wonderfully in my new-found olive world until just last week a friend suffered from terrible food poisoning over spoiled organic milk (luckily I don't include dairy in my diet ~ but you knew that ;) ) Anyway... poor dude was so sick during a visit to the gym. Thankfully hubby was there to help and support him. He was too weak to leave; can you imagine how awful that would be? So the point is, when hubby returned home I received an adjective-rich description of the whole episode.
He had olives with his lunch.
I'm not so fond of olives anymore.

You know that's what makes the world go 'round. Some people like dogs, others cats. I am glad someone loves raw broccoli, because if it were up to me, it would stay in the field! More power to all of you and enjoy the green/purple blessing!!
Peace
Todd
qetta! Oh dear, I was laughing so hard!!!
I can't believe your husband said that!! Dear oh dear... :D
hold on, let me just wipe the tears out of my eyes... :p
Wrecked Spark, I just love your humour SO MUCH!
Isn't it great that guys can be so graphic when it comes to things like, uhm, you know, bodily functions and stuff??
Thanks for giving me a great laugh this evening you two! :D :) :D

I just tried some broccoli sprouts. Delicious! I am not sure if these are the sprouted spawns of broccoli seeds. If it is, it saved the broccoli family in my book. THank God for Sprouts!!
Peace.

Broccoli yum yum yum, crunch crunch crunch, chew chew chew.
Deligthful!
I love it in a raw-stir (think stir-fry, but do not fry), with bok-choy and some other vegies, with a nice dressing.
I love it on its own, as well.
I repeat - I love it!

I love Broccoli. I do have to very lightly steam it but half of my salads are broccoli. It is still very crispy so has to be at least 3/4 raw.

Hi Flutterfly,
Ok, confession time. I DO like steamed broccoli. But I dont want to risk eating anything cooked. How steamed can it be and still retain all its enzymes?

I don't know the answer to that but the way I do it is boil water, put the broccoli on for anout 40 seconds and take it right out.

Can I be a liker instead of a lover? :p
I like it, it's ok. I put it in my salad and it's pretty good. Now cauliflower is my fav, that's something I LOVE. :D
