hello everyone :D
my name is deidre, I am 18, 5'10 and currently about 200 pounds. I've stuggled with my weight since I was a very very little girl, and I've recently just won a battle with anorexia. I now know that being able to count my ribs (as I was able to do last year when I weighed about 104) is not "beautiful". But now that I am no longer anorexic, I find myself about 40 pounds overweight and with the desire to cleanse my self the raw way. :)
so...here I am! I have tried to go raw before, and fallen into parents/friends telling me I would "kill" myself without any meat. I am hoping support from here will help me on my journey!
I have one question I have been wondering for a while...if this is not supposed to go here, I am sorry but...
has anyone heard of the Warrior Diet? Basically, you fast for the whole day until dinner, and eat one large meal. I was thinking of combining this way of eating with raw foodism for my first week or so, just to maximize results in the beginning. Of course, I want a cleaner, fresher, stronger body...but I also want to look good during bathing suit season! lol :p

I can't believe that people still think that vegans are somehow jeopardizing their health by not eating meat. Especially those who do it primarily for health reasons.

Welcome! I hope you enjoy your joney to becoming raw! I have never heard of the warrior diet before. The first few weeks of being raw make sure you have something to eat with you at ALL time, nuts, seeds, crackers etc, because you get really hungry! Just your bodys way of asking for more raw goodness! good luck!

Welcome to raw! :D
I've never heard of the warrior diet, but from what I know about science is that people get energy to do what they do from calories, which are found in food. It would seem to be a better idea to get your calories in one big morning meal rather than at night, where you sleep and don't need as many.
Anyways, enjoy your the start of your new health! The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. ;)

I have tried to go raw before, and fallen into parents/friends telling me I would "kill" myself without any meat.
I've been there before. A Doctor and ex-boyfriend "convinced" me that Raw would kill me and I needed meat. So I went back to eating mostly-SAD. After multiple hospitalizations, I retreated back to the WONDERFUL world of RAW VEGAN... and I'm now healthier than I've ever been in my entire 24 years of LIFE!!!!
Be encouraged - you're in GOOD company. Plus, you are 18 yrs old so your life is YOURS, and you can make choices for yourself now when it comes to Diet/Lifestyle. How exciting is that!!!??? Your Parents and SAD-devouring Peers no longer have any Power over you. YOU are YOUR decision-maker.
Choose wisely for your Body and the Future of your Life.
Choose Raw. ;)
Have you had a chance to get a copy of Alissa Cohen's book LIVING ON LIVE FOOD?
It's the best guide to going Raw in print today. It's also what these forums are based on. I first read it when I was 20 yrs old, and it's STILL my #1 favorite Raw Book after years of reading/researching the "diet"!
Welcome and best of luck...I say don't do the warrior diet. With raw you can eat all the raw food and as often as you want (except maybe nuts) and still loose all the weight you want, feel full, and get healthy all at the same time!!!!!!! Forget diets and ENJOY!

You will gain more health and release more weight by following a 100% raw lifestyle rather than fasting during the day and eating at night. I've known people who tried this and they all gained weight.
Alissa's philosophy about raw foods works...
