I have the Vita-mix vita prep which is commercial version. The blender wins hands down.

The vitamix 4000 is a commercial one even though it is old. What does anyone think of it....? I thin it has a metal canister.

I think you can't go wrong with a Vita Mix unless it's been run over by a truck! :p Seriously, I've read numerous times about people saying they have their mother's or grandmother's Vita Mix. They last forever! I say if it's in good condition, get it. New is great, but older doesn't necessarily equate to a lesser value.

I like the variable switch on the later models and the BPA-free container. But if it's the best way you can get one, go for it. :)
