Im doing a juice fast and I'm not sure how long I'm going to do it. Today was the first day and Ive read that doing an enema helps. Is this true, and what kind of enema should I do? Can I do a fleet enema? It would be the easiest I think.
Thanks for all replys,
Jeff

When fasting it's very common to do enemas. I have no idea what a fleet enema is. Usually, when I do one, I do 7-8 or until the water runs clear. You also might consider going to a colon therapist. Certainly easier and more thorough.
Paavo Airola was my first teacher (bookwise) on cleansing. Might want to find his book. Still good information.

Enemas are profound for cleansing. Colonics by a professional even better.
A fleet will do nothing but clean the first little bit that is ready to exit anyway. Serious enema people get an enema bag and fill it over and over again until the colon is empty. You will be able to tell.

Fleet enemas are irritating and full of chemicals. An enema bag is cheap and works great. I swear by enemas because a) they greatly improve my digestion, b) they're much cheaper than colonics, c) I can do them in privacy, usually watching a movie, and d) I feel WAY better after an enema.
Further, I've noticed even on days when I don't do enemas, I BM much better than before. I would highly recommend an enema a day in the beginning.
Revvell and lovin, I had no idea about the water running clear thing...thanks!

I fast a lot... never do enemas, SWFs or colonics... but that's just my way of fasting. If you want to do one... then go for it! :)
Here's a little read for ya: http://www.soilandhealth.org/02/0201hyglibcat/020127shelton.III/020127.ch13.htm

I don't like them, but I do them, because it helps me to feel better during the fast. I was lazy to do it yesterday(my juice fast day 4 is today) and I can feel headache lurking around. I use filtered water.

I've been debating with myself whether or not I should do an enema. I'm on day 6 of my juice fast and have had "the runs" a couple of times. I have heard conflicting stories about doing enemas.
However, one of my main purposes for fasting is to break my addiction to terrible food and to lose weight that I am required to FAST. Would enemas flush weight, or would I be fine just sticking to my juice and sporadic BM's?

The junk stuck in your colon is adding to your weight. I heard one well-known raw food advocate say that his cousin (I think it was), eliminated 18 pounds just from a colonic ... or... something of that nature. I'm sure someone here will correct me on that. ;)
It's not that big a deal to do, so if you want to, git-r-done!

I had just one colonic, but all that left me were green leaf pieces, so the practitioner told me to chew better. I was eating 100 percent raw for a few months at that time though.

That's not true about Elvis and/or John Wayne.

Just think about it: You're not taking in fiber, so eventually what little poop you have is just going to sit there in your intestines with toxins being reabsorbed.
I researched fasting/enemas etc for four months before finally embarking on one, and I believe that when doing a juice fast, it's the best way. I've read many doctors who have said...Darn. Was it Paavo Airola...or something in Steve Meyerowitz's fasting book? Anyway....one doc said he's seen comparisons of people who did and didn't do enemas. those who did not had to have a "recovery time" after fasting, whereas those who did were energetic and vibrant the whole time.
There's a drug store chain in our area called Drug Mart that sells 2 qt enema bags for $3.99. They're supposed to be disposable, but when fasting, I used it numerous times. You should be able to hold in approx two quarts.
I actually hated doing an enema, but felt it was best for me. I would do one about five days a week, and do one or two colonics a week.
I would put lemon juice or probiotics into the enema bag too.
When researching it, I came across some kinky gay sites where partners did it to each other for enjoyment. Each to his own, but there is NOOOOOO way, I could get that kind of enjoyment out of it. Again, I hated doing them.
jWhen not fasting, I DO NOT do enemas OR colonics.

p.s. There are other ways of elimination: salt water flushes or laxative-type teas (I believe they may wash out too many minerals), or psyllium once-a-day ---which causes peristalsis and thereby does not rest your digestive system totally. If you didn't care about resting your system, you'd be better off with a green-smoothie fast where you don't have to worry about elimination at all.

I agree. And we are not talking just about poop here. Many toxins are dumped through the colon during the fast, and they are probably not even the things you can see( I barely get any poop on the 9th day now, but they still make me feel better.) Last time during 10th day I got some mucus shaped like intestine -like a spiral. I did finish my fast then at 10 days. I see if that will happen this time.
