Hey everyone! I'm Lisa and I've been a vegetarian since age 7... now in my early 20's. I have always been what i consider pretty health conscience and I've recently stumbled upon the raw diet and really want to give it a try! I'm looking forward to talking to all of you and really really looking forward to starting the diet (i need some appliances first though)! :)

Thanks for the welcome Mary Kay! and I'm new to the whole idea and just deciding on which appliances are best for me and saving money in the meantime. I also ordered Alissa's book last night and cannot wait for it to get here! In the meantime my family and friends think I'm insane and difficult for wanting to do this.

Hey Mango!
Mary Kay was correct. No big investment needed. And you are in the dream job for a RAWBIE! Forget about people that push their opinions on you. Be yourself and you will see their suggestions are good for themselves, not you. You have thousands here to hold your hand. You can do it. True friends encourage wise choices. I wish you every success.......

Welcome Lisa, nice to have you onboard.
I started my adventure not too long ago and the only appliance I got was a juicer, not the best on the market but good enought to start out with..I have yet to get a dehydrator and I am really fighting myself on getting one..I simply am not ready for one yet..
Raw is very easy to do, you don't need anything but fruit, veggies, nuts and the like to start out with, get the book (Alissa's of course) and play around with food..it is addicting and easy..

Hi Lisa! http://www.websmileys.com/sm/happy/042.gif

I echo what others have said here. You don't need the appliances to start! I went nearly 6 months without a high speed blender and nearly a year without a dehydrator. In fact, I really haven't used my dehydrator much at all. I thought I would be using it constantly, lol!

Glad your'e here! There's a lot of wonderful, supportive people on this site. Be sure to use the search feature under the banana icon at the top of the page to look for answers too.

aww thanks everyone for being so welcoming :) i'm feeling so much support already! and i am kinda lucky working in produce Dave, i have to say you do learn a lot and gain a lot of knowledge with the job ... and i actually have a dehydrator, i got it as a gift and am really thankful for that but i'm afraid it gets to hot... it feels hot when i use it and i've tried to look up the make and model and cannot find any information on what temperature it reaches so i'm not sure about it being ok to use. I'm slowly starting to work my way to raw (I know i need to just do it 100% already) today i ate a cooked meal after not eating any the past couple of days and it made me feel so yucky. i didn't think it would do that this fast! but i'm super excited to get Alissa's book! hopefully it gets here soon! I want to do her 30 day plan because I have no clue what I'm doing and i tend to start and finish things all the way and better if i just have a plan laid out for me! sooo excited!!!
thanks again everyone!
