I have been really craving something salty, fatty and just really savory. I used to eat cheez itz or sun chips to satisfy this, but I really want a good raw alternative. What do YOU eat when you have this type of craving??
I tried to eat raw cashews and while I love them, when they aren't roasted they are not very salty so that didn't help...

ETA: I forgot to mention that I don't have a dehydrator and the blender I have isn't very good either- it works only for smoothies when I add water. So that limits what I can have, unfortunately.

A spoon of miso in a mug or warm water will satisfy your salty needs.

Make crackers and cheese dip or, better yet, Alissa's corn chips sprinkled liberally with salt and lime juice, and maybe a nice big bowl of guacamole. Yummmm...

Dry dulse smeared with avocado. Maybe with some tomato mixed in as well.

I'm rubbish with recipes, but dehydrated zucchini slices or "kale chips" (which I think you can make in your oven, using the lowest temp possible leaving the door open) would give you that crunch factor.

Dry dulse smeared with avocado.

YUM! That sounds so good, and would stop me from craving corn chips (SAD ones) with my guacamole. Thanks! It is especially helpful to have recipes that call for avocado because nuts mess with my digestion and I have really tired of all nuts except almonds anyway.

All I have locally as far as Dulse goes is Dulse Flakes, so naturally I've adapted to sprinkling a good layer of them onto a half of an avocado (the other half goes to my bruh). You can even put a little bit of agave on there if you're a daredevil.

I like these ideas.
I miss my ruffles and onion dip at times....
I have been having raw corn chips and a raw dip.
It is not the same but it works and i feel much better than after I ate ruffles and dip!
Also i eat some raw macadamian nuts with lot of sea salt when the cravings get to be to much. It works well!

sallty, fatty, savory, cheez-its, cashews....

I was going to say Cheesy Kale Chips are all that, but a dehydrator is required to get them crunchy. I like to snack on them before drying, too.

For a quick, salty, fatty snack I wrap up Brazil nuts in strips of dulse. I can't taste any fishiness or marine flavor from the dulse, but the kid that taught me that little trick eats a LOT at a time, and he smells strongly like the ocean (fish) after eating them. :p

How?

When I first went raw I kept eating salted pistachio nuts. These wouldn't be raw but I'm not sure I would have made it without them. I had some very bad salt cravings. After 4 or 5 months I was able to wean myself off them.Nowadays an avocado and seeds awnsers that kind of craving.Sometimes with sea salt.

I don't have a dehydrator either, but I buy raw crackers and raw kale chips online (also at my health food store).

You could also try making a raw salsa or dip and using crunchy veggies like celery and carrots instead of chips.

Where do you guys find stuff like dulse?? I've never tried that before.
There is no health food store around me :( Does whole foods have dulse?

There's no market for health in your area? (I'm not saying this idea is too off-the-wall)

Try looking in your phonebook for healthfood stores, or maybe the internet can help you find a healthfood store in your area.

I have tried looking for a health food store through the internet and phone book, the stores listed as health food stores are usually stores that sell things like muscle milk and other protein supplements as well as diet pills..
