Hi - I'm brand new to raw. So far loving it but finding that I just keep wanting to eat. Do most of you just eat however much you want as long as it's raw or do you limit yourself? I'm trying to lose about 15 pounds that I've put on after surgery. Thanks!

When you're first starting Alissa recomends eating whatever you want, whenever. There is not counting or restricting. If you try to restrict I think people have a tendancy to fall off the proverbial wagon and binge on cooked food.
Once you've been eating 100% raw for a month or so and still need to kick a couple of stubborn pounds you can take a look at how much of your diet is from nuts/oils and dried fruits (much denser in calories than fresh)
My guess is that your weight loss won't be stalled unless you're really eating huge quantities of dried fruits/nuts/avocados though.

Thanks - I'm just worried 'cause since I've already put on the 15 pounds I certainly don't want to put on any more! I do notice already that I just feel a bit better and my digestion is way improved. Just hoping to kick these pounds and, more importantly, just feel better (more energy, more clarity, etc.)!

I really don't think you need to worry about it. Even eating several avocados a day and lots of fruit - the weight just falls off. (I'm not even worrying about weight - I'm pregnant) I try to eat till I'm stuffed to keep from loosing it too fast because I know my Dr will yell if I loose 30# in a month LOL

i too am one of those people who's frequently hungry and i've been making a green smoothie lately that fills me up nicely - 2 cups spinach, 1 orange, 1 cup (frozen) berries, 1-2 frozen bananas, 1 cup water, 1 tbsp flax. it's very filling. and yummy.

Thanks - can't wait to try it. Do you use whole flax seeds or do you grind them first? Does it matter?

I've been raw for a month now and i only lost 3 lbs. If i was only doing this for weight loss i would be ready to give up, but, since i do love this way of eating and i am certain it is the healthiest way to eat i'm going to hang in there and start being more careful with the nuts and sweets. I've had my fun trying all the decadent recipes but enough is enough!
Seems like every recipe contains nuts!
So, more green smoothies (they dont have nuts)
Maybe try a nut free salad dressing and easy on the nut cheeses and sweets treats like raw brownies and chocolates.
I cannot imagine it would be possible to not lose weight if i begin to focus mainly on the fruits and veggies and limit my treats to once a week or so.
Hopefully February will be my month to see the weight "just fall off".
A calorie is a calorie when it comes to energy expended, but i want to make every calorie count for nutrition as well as energy.

normally you should grind them first, but i throw them in whole into the vitamix, and i have yet to find a whole seed :)
