Two weeks raw today and I have developed a urniary tract infections. I have only had one other in my life. I am thinking it may be caused from detox but whatever the cause I need to fix it. I went to the store this morning to hopefully get some fresh cranberries to juice but they didn't have any. I got a bottle of pure organic cranberry juice from concertrate. Cost a bunch but I didn't want any kind that had other juices mixed in with it. So I got the closest thing I could to fresh. Anyhow, I am trying to get down a glass. Really it is just down right awful to me. So my question is do you think I will get the same benefits if I mix the cranberry juice up with some fresh carrot juice or pour it into a green smoothie. Any thoughts. I am really shocked that I have a UTI. I never thought that would be a detox symptom of mine but I'm glad it's on it's way out instead of festering inside of me.

This happened to me and one other girl right when I started raw too . . . I can't remember her name, but you may be able to do a banana search for the post. It was recommended that I take Uva Ursi (?) and cranberry tablets - I got them at Whole Foods, they weren't that expensive, and they immediately helped. Sorry you're going through this! With the conscious effort you are putting out there it will get better quickly :)

Drinking more water can help, also probiotics (healthy bacteria) especially the acidophilus strain can be very beneficial by helping to fight off the bad bacteria. Hope you feel better soon! :o

Thanks so much. I did a search before I went out this moring which is where I got the idea to actually juice whole cranberries but the alternative was to get the pure cranberry juice which I did. I wish I would have thought of tablets.
I couldn't take the taste any longer and put the cranberry juice in a smoothie with spincah, and a banana. I can drink this down at least now. :D

I like the taste of cran/apple juice. Some stores have frozen cranberries all year long.

A good quality probiotic in the morning then make yourself a green drink with the cranberry and tinctures of uva ursi, echinacea, & goldenseal - i personally would limit carrot or apple or any of the higher sugar fruits (or other sweeteners like agave, maple syrup, honey) until you get the bacterial balance in better shape.
Also good: fresh dandelion leaves in your salad.
Teas: Uva ursi, cornsilk, buchu, nettles.
Essential oil blend: Tea tree, Pine, Juniper, Lavender.
Of course, lots of pure water....
Google B6 & magnesium deficiency and see if you have any other symptoms that match up.
Good luck...

Thanks everyone. I'm thinking now I should have gotton the cranberry mixed with the apple juice. I just wasn't sure how much was the actual cranberry juice I needed and how much was really apple juice. When I looked at the Ocean Spray one it says 100% cranberry juice. If you looked at the ingredients it said. Filtered water first, then cranberry concertrate, grape, and apple juice. Some had beet sugars as well. Maybe all the juice they put in the Ocean Spray kills the taste for the non cranberry lovers like me. However, I can take it in the smoothie which I plan to have another this evening.

I do feel much better already. The urges to go have stopped as well as ALOT of the burning. So this makes me SUPER HAPPY> Got to love water.

I did check into the vitamin defienceys but I don't seem to have any symptoms for b6 and magnesium. I'm happy about that.

Before going raw again I had a major diet soda habit. I wonder if this somehow brought this on. You never know. Like I said I have drank soda my entire life and at 37 have only had one UTI ever and that was like at 17. The first week was pure HE** with the soda but I wonder what damage I have done to my intestines from that or even my bladder for that matter.. I know soda is so bad. I wonder why sometimes we turn a blind eye to things we put in our body just to feel good. I wonder what I can do to clear up what soda has done to the insides. I'm thinking WATER<:D
