Guys..

I need advice on colonics..

Is its best form an enema? and they have those over the counter.. I was looking at directions and they have all of these odd positions you can do when administering it. If I do it myself, I want to administer to myself.. so those positions will not bide well. Does anyone do it over the toilet...? just sitting? I know nothing about these.. any advice?

Also, do you guys suggest doing one before starting the raw foods hardcore? will it better transition me?

I have done home enemas and I start off sitting in the bath and then go to the toilet to eliminate.

IMO colonics and/or enemas are not necessary to do before eating raw food. Colonics & enemas are best used in water fasts where there is a possibility of re-absorbing stagnant toxins in the colon.

I'm with EZRider on this one - just get onto a good raw food diet first with a lot of greens and green smoothies as well as plenty of water(after all, one is consuming a lot more vegetable and fruit fibers in this way of eating, far more than on SAD) - this in itself is very cleansing and can really help with elimination. Given the chance, one's body will always come around to try to right itself and heal. After 6 months or so of being really raw, take stock of your situation, and only then consider some outside help. Just getting onto the new way of eating and your body adjusting will keep it busy for quite awhile, especially if you are coming off a pretty bad diet. If you do go for a colonic eventually, really check out the practitioner and ask a lot of questions, as some people have had trouble with perforated intestines, or excess dependency on the colonics themselves in order to poop at all - not good! There's controversy for sure in the community about colonics and enemas - some people consider them too invasive, while others really swear by them. I haven't done either, myself. I find with the chia seeds and green smoothies that really made a difference for me. In fact, I'm off to have one for lunch right now - LOL!

Thanks, guys! I am relieved I don't have to do one... I was nervous and youtubing how to properly perform one!

A full on colonic irrigates the intestinal tract. It is done by an operator (colonic therapist.) Enemas are superficial, but have value in their own right. The classic health authorities are in disagreement as to their efficacy, or their necessity. As for colonics, they are far more invasive. Even then, one colonic is not considered enough. It is said that several are needed to really cleanse out the colon of old material. And they are expensive. I would try the raw regimen first.

Colonics are generally recommended for those who are older, wherein more accumulation of wastes usually occur. This is also contingent with diet history and other things.

... And they are expensive...

What is "expensive" in your opinion?

Of course, "expensive" is relative to perceived value and pocketbook. I mention that, as many folks seem to be of modest means, though not all.

And, in our country, medical insurance generally does not cover such natural therapies. I once asked a doctor about colonic irrigations, and he didn't know what it was. Go figure. :D

Here's some figures -
One website says:
Single therapy treatments vary from state to state, ranging from approximately $55 to $95 per treatment session. The typically office visit will last approximately 1 hour — of which 45 minutes is actual colon hydrotherapy treatment time.

Another said:
The average cost per session is between $65 and $95, depending on the style of clinic, the location (large urban center versus small community), and the level of expertise of the various professionals at each clinic.

(In the prospect of multiple treatments, this can get pricey.)
And I've heard much higher figures.

I did a series of 10 colonics years ago. Nothing dramatic in the feeling of great healing or in releasing anything of great note. Did feel better overall, but agree that raw in general and juicing in particular would probably accomplish the same thing.
