Hi there,
I am new to raw and was wondering about green smoothies. Do you guys actually enjoy the taste of yours? The 2 that I have had, I have had to gulp down practically holding my nose because it was so gross. I had zuccinni in mine and spinach and some other fruits that I enjoy.

I see some of you add kale.... which I am not sure even what that is? SO is this green smoothie thing basically all for health or are they actually possibly to taste nice?

My only advice could be to drown out the tastes you don't like with more of the tastes you do like.

Welcome. :) Green smoothies are delicious. When trying to make a sweet one, you want to use ingredients that compliment it easily. The ingredients you were using are more for a savory one (especially if you aren't familiar with them), which require other ingredients to work. The simplest way to make a beginner smoothie is to combine 2-4+ pieces of medium to large fruit such as bananas, baby spinach and water. Bananas work very well because of their strong flavor and add creaminess and density. You can add other fruits to this mix such as mango, pineapple, coconut, etc. Once you become more accustomed to then, you can experiment with other greens and veggies. This forum is full of recipes.

Technically zuchinni (I can NEVER get the spelling right on this! and it's too early to go looking for it. ;) ) is a fruit because it has seeds but I'd never think to put it in a smoothie. Check "smoothies" on YouTube. You'll see what so many others do PLUS there are HUNDREDS of recipes on this site alon.

I started raw at the end of last summer, so I was really bummed when all the summer fruits disappeared a month or two later.

I know what you mean! Raw in the summer is so much better.

Fresh berries.........*drools*..Sorry off topic for a sec. I understand ya, anni. The only thing that makes my green smoothies green are spinach. It doesn't leave a major flavor in my mouth. I'm trying to grow up, but like everything it's a work in progress
