Today my new blender finally arrived. I got a Blendtec with the bigger BPA free jar, so excited...it was back ordered and i had to wait about 2 weeks for it.
So Today i made some ice cream and tried to make soup. Both times the thing overheated and shut down and it also is making my outlet shut off so i have to reset it. I also saw some sparks coming out of the base! Has anyone experienced this with their blenders? Even my oster didnt do this.
I was really looking forward to making the soup, running it till its just a bit warm (its so cold and damp outside)
Tomorrow i'm calling blendtec but maybe some feedback from some fellow raw foodists will help me get some ideas.

I bought a Vitamix. Several years old, used.... no issues whatsoever.

I'm sorry you're having issues with your Blendtec. I am not a fan of them based on other friends having issues. I prefer Vitamix. And nope, don't make a dime from anyone for saying that. ;)

I hope your able to sort it out. My advise? Return your Blendtec, get a full refund, and buy a Vitamix. :D

I only paid $335 for this and free shipping, thats about all i've got so far. I hope they dont expect me to pay to ship it back! Darn it!

Hi ~ You're already doing what I would advise and that's to call BlendTec directly. I've dealt with them twice and have always gotten 100% satisfaction. I love the large carafe - so nice! *Ü*

i got my vitamix reconditioned from their website - with tax and free shipping it was $398 - a tiny bit more than your blendtec, but it hasn't yet sparked :D (knock on wood)

I bought a Blendtec in November and have had no problems with it whatsoever. It has never overheated or had any of the other problems you've described. Give Blendtec a call.

So, where can i get a vitamix for a good price?

Shop around. Online, in thrift stores, yard sales, etc. Set your intentions.

I "found" (attracted) a used Vitamix for $200... all containers + base included. Never had a moment's trouble with it, been using it heavily (3+ times a day) for over a year now.

Vitamix has a reputation for LONG-TERM quality. As in... 20, 30, 40 yrs those machines will last you. :)

Yep i called and they took care of everything, sending me a new motorbase plus a shipping label to return the old one.
I'm glad to learn that mine was faulty and its not the norm to have these problems!
My new base will be here on Tuesday!
Yay!

I'm glad to hear that it all worked out so well. I've had the same care from their Customer Service as well. In fact - they've gone above and beyond for me too - replacing my carafe after the warranty had expired, love it! *Ü*
