I've only been doing raw for about a month and only found out what a Durian is yesterday after watching Allisa's video. It doesn't look like anything i have seen around here, but then i wasn't looking. I've shopped at Whole Foods and also at an Asian Market in Federal Way. They have young coconuts and some other unusual fruits and veggies. There are several asian markets in South Tacoma that i am going to check out soon. If i see a Durian i'll be sure to let you know. I'd like to try them myself!
And welcome to Washington. Wish it wasn't so rainy right now, but spring looks like its coming early this year :)

The only place I have seen fresh durian is at Uwajimaya (http://www.uwajimaya.com/locations.html). Renton would be the store nearest you, and I'm not sure that is all that near.
I bought a durian from a Uwajimaya several years ago for about $12. When I opened it, I thought it had gone bad and threw it out. I've since found out they smell like rotten onions and garlic and there was likely nothing wrong with it. :p
Welcome to WA! :)
