Hey everyone, how does everyone else juice their pineapple? :)

I have always peeled it, but I was reading in Steve Meyerowitz's book Power Juices and Super Drinks....that he says its ok to juice the skin/peel...I had never done that...was wondering what everyone else did... peel or no peel?

Notice any difference in taste with peel?

Thanks,
dave

don't juice the peel... your mouth will feel like you've drank shards of glass!!!

always always always remove the peel!!!

(and yes, i speak from experience!)

Now I'm guessing that Aleesha has probably juiced 1,000 times more than I have, so you should probably take her advice over mine, but I always leave the peel on and it's ok for me....? The only time it is weird is if I have residual salt in my mouth from eating something else before the pineapple - then I get that strange tingly sensation, but that is pretty rare.....

I was hoping you would answer cuz I know you've juiced alot of pineapple. That is a BIG taste difference...:eek:LOL

I have juiced quite a few...just never even crossed my mind to juice the peel, till I read it in his book. Thanks Aleesha!

Rawviveyourself thanks for the reply...I may try just a bit with the peel....cuz you both have peaked my interest :D but I won't be doing the whole pineapple;)

Yea just trying to do some reading on juicing and fasting...so I can maybe make it down to the forum topic under juicing *fasting*.

I been watching you guys...and it sure looks like some fun...gettin all grumpy and all ;):D Maybe I can educate myself enough to try it next month.

fasting really isn't all that complicated... unless you want it to be.

you can fast on any raw fruit or veggie combo you desire. i prefer simple mono juices and fruit ones at that.

it's all about hydration... so you just want to make sure you drink every day. a minimum of one litre... and i'd say you'd probably max out at 8 litres of water and juice. i can't imagine drinking more than that LOL

;) but there's some great books out there!

to name my two personal favourites.

Thanks for the links and advise!

Not trying to make it complicated...just kinda wanting to educate myself a bit. Like Angela said...no mango's....wonder why? Is it because of all the fiber you would get from juicing a mango?

Lot going on this month...so trying to read up some in the evenings and nights...to prepare for next month. I'll have some me time first couple weeks of the month in March.

Thanks again Aleesha!

I juice a pineapple at least 3 or 4 times a week. I use a pineapple corer (see photo below), then just put the fruit through the juicer or blend it in a smoothie.

This tool is so easy to use - and quick! Then I compost the rind and give the hard inner core to my Mom for her parrots.

Maybe this is why when I talk to people about juicing they say it takes a long time to juice stuff when I'm just whackin' a hunk off - peel and core and all - and tossing it in. :)

I missed the mango comment....what was that about?

In the second link that Aleesha provided is a review of a book by Angela Stokes....and she talks about juicing mango during a fast...says it should be watered down and strained.

Haha... when I peeled and ate a pineapple....I would juice the core....LOL

i like to juice a mango with a pineapple... pineapple is a nice thin juice so it compliments a mango nicely!

Do you have to blend the two together or does the mango come out liquidy enough that they cohere?

I also use the same i.e pineapple corer. It works great. I got for around $8. I had the plastic one though.

I am so jealous, that you guys can eat pineapple. It eats the lining of my mouth. So do fresh figs.

I know, but my mom's African Grey parrot is soooo darling when he eats a pineapple core - and you can tell he loves it!

My puppies get the core. Boy do they get excited when I bring out a pineapple. Sharing is a wonderful thing.
