I think I might get some of these, I'm too nervous about breaking the glass ones. Glad to know there's an alternative out there!

Yeah! These look great. I get so tired of using disposable straws, but the only other ones I have are plastic and have a funky taste . . . not to mention the chemical aspect.

Very interesting, I never knew they made stainless steel straws. I've been contemplating buying the glass ones from GlassDharma.

I received a set of 4 of glass straws from GlassDharma for my birthday last October. I *love* them. They took me a little bit to get used to going from a super thin plastic straw to a chunkier glass - but I use them exclusively now.

But - 2 weeks ago I dropped one on our cement basement floor - it broke - They have a guarantee though. I mailed the broken straw back and they'll replace it at no charge. *Ü*

I love my glass straws! I have one for home for smoothies and one shorter to use with an insulated jar when I'm out for soups and smoothies. I have broken one before. Now I'm ultra careful. I may try stainless someday-they're hard to find wide though.

This glass straw has anti-roll bumps for extra assurance.

I'd go with the glass, I couldn't imagine the stainless steel straws not imparting a metal taste... they certainly look rad though.

I love my glass straws - I have 3. The stainless look pretty cool though. I like the fact that I can SEE that the glass ones are clean - with the stainless, anything could be lurking in there just waiting to be sucked up by me :p

My grandkids ( 3 & 1) use mine with no problems. I keep them in my kitchen drawer and they are bumped around and I still have 3.

Another reason I like the steel ones is that they are bent :)
I prefer bendy straws to the straight ones

Glass Dharma also offers the no-roll-bumps too in oh-so-perty colors! Ofcourse - those bendy glass straws wouldn't roll too far either :D

no ron i didn't. but a local family did. we buy some of their pottery every year at the art's festival. it takes place on the beach... we love it. only a short drive from our home.

i have done some pottery, but unfortunately didn't stick with it. perhaps later in life when i'm not so busy all the time...

I found me a bamboo straw. It doesn't get cooler than this.

Where did everyone get their glass straws from? I am so happy they exist. The plastic disposable ones just aren't up to it.
Hope there's a good place to get them in Australia.

The Stainless Steel ones are funky looking too! I do wonder though, if someone had braces just how much more it would add to that metallic taste... I've seen some funkier imitation glass straw's that swirl too. I am guessing they could be used as well.

Than again I bet an awesome chef in the Raw industry could come up with some SUPER RAWSOME Straws made out of, oh IDK, a hollow partially frozen Cuke. Just For Fun! ;)

I ordered mine from GlassDharma (http://glassdharma.com/).

I received an email from them yesterday, my free replacement straw has been mailed out. (I dropped a straw on our cement basement floor and it broke - they offer free lifetime replacements). *Ü*

Good question. They must get funky with smoozies. Pipe cleaners? Itty bitty brushes? Do they provide something to clean them when they sell them?

How do you clean the glass or stainless straws???

DebB

Glass Dharma includes a little brush with a long handle - just the right size for cleaning the inside of their glass straws.

Back to add - I rinse the straw out as soon as I'm done using it and pop it in the dishwasher. I haven't needed to use the cleaning brush yet.. *Ü*

Be aware that we're old though, calling them pipe cleaners. Seems anyone born in the mid to late 80s on has no clue what they are. Real fun when you go into stores and they look at you oddly and take you to the wrong section of the store. Craft stores now call them chenille stems. They usually sell for real cheap there.

We don't use a dishwasher. Figure if we can take the time to rinse something, we might as well just wash it.

Don't pipes need cleaning anymore???

For straws, we use the camelbak brush intended for cleaning hydration bladder drinking tubes.
