I've been wanting to eat some melted cheese for a few days now, does anyone have any recommendations to deal with this, raw food alternatives, etc. I'm afraid in a moment of weakness I will give in to the cheese ...

Well there are several cheese "dips" on the site, but if you just mean like literally the texture of melted cheese including the mouthfeel, you might me SOL. Use the banana to search, though, by all means!

I had a note here the other day on "if you crave this, what you really need is .....?" Can't find it right now so I plugged it into google. If you crave oily snacks/fatty foods, what you really need is calcium. These are the healthy choices for calcium......Mustard, turnip greens, broccoli, legumes, kale, sesame. Cheese was the other one but we know that is not what you are going to grab, right?

ok, thanks, that's really helpful. I was thinking it was the melty mouth feel, but it makes sense since today I've been eating lotsa fatty snacks, nuts, coconut, and even made some sesame milk. Will try some kale or the other suggestions and see if it works. Off to try google beef craving ....

I just read a tip on PureJeevan that said to imitate the parmesan cheese that you shake on (not the real stuff) very finely ground Brazil nuts are a good match. But then that doesn't fix the melty texture..

Thanks for the cheese suggestions. I make the cashew cheese sometimes and love it. As a follow up, after I read this post last night, I took a calcium supplement and drank a glass of sesame milk and have been good so far. :)

Hey, that's good to hear. I was just checking in to see how it worked for you.

The "cheese" part of this recipe (on the zucchini mac or otherwise) has by far the most cheesy taste/texture I've experienced:

Warmed in the dehydrator for a bit it really does taste like melted cheese to me (and I've tried many other cashew cheeses and such). A caveat, though...I've been raw for seven months and vegan for four years, so my memory of true melted cheese is likely less accurate than that of someone just transitioning. Might be something to try, though. Good luck! :)
