View Full Version : So discouraged I just don't know what to do :(

I just got an email from a friend of mine. She had asked me where I had ordered my dehydrator from and when I told her she said she'd heard that name before. Didn't surprise me as I had seen it before and it certainly seems legit, but she discovered that someone she knew had ordered a dehydrator from them and never received it. The company refused to answer any of her communications and she had to turn it over to the credit card company to deal with. She then discovered that this had happened to several other people as well:eek:.
The company processed the card pretty quickly, so I can't simply stop payment on it. I just emailed them and asked when they think it should arrive (we ordered it a week ago). I was very polite about it, we're actually hoping to take a vacation soon so I wanted to be sure we'd be here to receive it anyway, and I'll try calling tomorrow (past business hours now) but I am just so upset right now! I am a full time mom, so I don't have an income. I sold my only item of any real value (an expensive grain mill) so that I could afford this and there is just no way I can get the money to replace this if it's gone :( . Don't get me wrong, IF this turns out to be a scam, we'll do everything we legally can to get the money back, but who knows how long that will take!? I'm feeling so discouraged over this whole thing :(. I tell you I'm sure glad I can get the blender I want locally (when I can afford it, which may now be a LOT longer if I have to figure out how to pay for this AGAIN) because I don't think I want to be trusting large sums of money to online stores again :(

Let me ask you this ~ Is worrying and being discouraged helping you? What if you friend is mistaken or downright wrong? Then what? Then you've wasted a part of your life feeling bad.
You know, I never trust someone who tells me they KNOW "several other people" who something has happened to. I don't even KNOW anybody personally other than on this forum who have purchased a dehydrator from any ONE company and even so, so what? I doesn't mean it's going to "happen" to you!
So, take a nice warm bubble bath, listen to some music, relax until tomorrow. Upsetness isn't worth ruining your evening.

Look on the back of your credit card statement for the rules of dispute. You have a certain number of days that you can dispute a charge. With my credit card company the rules are it has to be ordered from home, be over $50 and be disputed within 60 days. I had a problem with ordering an item on line. I called the credit card company and they inmmediately gave me a credit for the full amount while they investigated. I never heard another word about it and did not have to pay for the item I never received.
A lot of companies get away with this because people don't know they can dispute the charge or they don't complain until after the 60 day dispute window has expired. Again, check your credit card statement or call your company for the rules of dispute.
Sorry you had this trouble.

No it doesn't mean it's going to happen to me, and I sure hope it's not, but no, I can't just "not worry". That was a LOT of money for me, and it's irreplaceable. No, it's not the end of the world, but it IS worrisome. I used to be an optimist to rather extreme levels, but lets just say once bitten twice shy.

I'm going to be looking into that tomorrow! That's why I want to get in contact with the company to find out approximately how long I can expect shipping to take. No use doing anything about it until it's "late". Really there's no use getting upset this early at all, but when you get kicked a number of times, you start to panic at the first sign of a boot :(
Meh, I'm just going to stop checking my email when it's already an hour past my bedtime

She didn't have it yet. She's expecting to have it.

Why not? we cause more ill health by worrying about something that may never happen than handling stuff that does. If it happens, handle it. If not.. well, one wasted evening worrying, eh?

As RK said, your credit card company will more than likely return the funds IF this proves to be bogus. If not, you'll have a new "d". How cool is that? :)

Good point. I frequently have to remind myself not to get stressed about something that has not happened.

Yes, sorry if that wasn't clear. More than likely the whole issue will be cleared up before tomorrow is out. I'll find out if it's been shipped, if not I'll cancel the order and try find a location to buy it in person. If it has then I'll find out when they expect it to arrive, if it doesn't then I'm sure the credit card company can deal with it.
I'm sorry, I'm totally overreacting, like I said, should not even be AWAKE at this point  Is it possible to maybe have this thread deleted? It really is pointless at this...point :o

Well, sometimes it's frustrating when you want things settled and, because it's a weekend or after hours, etc....
Hoping it's on it's way to you. Usually when I start wondering where something I ordered is, it shows up that day. How cool would that be?
Enjoy your evening.

One of my favorite ways of handling worry is this: When you say to yourself, for example, 'What if this dehydrator never shows up and I am never reimbursed the money I paid?'- you add these words: So what if the dehydrator never shows up and I am never reimbursed the money I paid? I will deal with it .' I find it kind of turns worry on itself and puts you back in power!:)

Remind me to never ever EVER try to react sanely to something when I'm exhausted  . Epic fail!
Well guess who just showed up at the door!? Yup, the UPS guy. HOWEVER….there was tax and duty to pay on it. Had to have exact change and I was like $5 short!!! Sooooooo I had to ask the UPS guy to come back tomorrow!!!
