My cranium was pondering something. Since the vegan B12 supplements available are from a bacteria source, I was wondering if letting a bacteria have it's way with seaweed (through means of fermentation) would perhaps shapeshift the B12 analogues into fullblown, usable, active B12. Similar to the way microbiology can make nutrition more easily available for plant absorption, or having good intestinal flora can help digestion and assimilation.

If no one has an answer for this I'll still be throwing seaweed into my sauerkraut for kicks.

Wakame! Hijiki would be good too, I suspect. I keep wanting to try hijiki and arame, but since they aren't to be found (comercially, at least) raw- maybe fermented would be a good way to eat them so they'd at least be live.
