We did it !

I am so proud of myself ! I have never gone this long on any type of challenge before ! I've had a few slip ups which were really minor ! But for the most I am so happy I completed this. Next Month, I plan to be 90% raw eating stem sweet potatos and beans.

We both made it without any glitches.

I've lost 16 lbs in January and lost over 4 inches from my "waist" (which is now almost waist shaped too!)

Mrs Gecko has lost 8 lbs and has reduced her Menieres Disease medication from 3 pills to 1/2 pill per day.

Amazing. We've decided we are going to stay 90% + Raw. Haven't felt this good in years.:)

Congratulations everyone for completing the 30 day challenge! I'm on day 21 now, but wanted to share in the excitement with those who completed the challenge today.

Awesome everyone!!! I ended up eating a cooked dinner last night, and a cooked dinner tonight.. I'll be doing a 13-day mini-RAW-challenge, starting tomorrow! I know I'll be having a cooked, vegan dinner on Valentine's, then will be doing some travelling. (will do my best while in CA, though, will def get to Cafe Gratitude on the Sat night I will be there!)

So.. another 2 weeks coming up for me.. I know it'll be easy!

Also.. ironic that as soon as I had something cooked is when I started not feeling good? I think not! My inner ear has been bothering me all day, and I am completely wiped out. More incentive to stay 100% raw for the next 2 weeks!!!

congratulations to everyone for completing the 30 Day Challenge.
I plan to do the February challenge. I've been eating all raw since the 25th. I've had a couple of minor slip-ups. Yesterday, the 30th, I had a tablespoon (quite literally) of some sweet potato soup that I made for some guests and today, the 31st, I had two slices of Challah bread.

I tried to start going raw on Jan. 17th, but wasn't very successful because my daughter was still in town on her college Christmas break and I just couldn't resist the temptation to eat whatever she bought or made. So I just wrote it off as a part of my transitioning (have been transitioning--from 10% to 20% to 30%, etc.). And then, the very morning that I dropped my daughter off at the airport, I began my first 100% raw day.

Last night, I tasted the food I'd cooked because, well, I didn't want to serve bad food. I had to make sure it tasted okay, so I make no apologies for that. Today, though, with the bread...I was concerned about losing so much weight so quickly (on the 25th, I weighed 192.8; this morning, I weighed 183.8) because I'd heard it was stressful on the gallbladder and could cause gallstones. A friend told me that in order to slow down the weight loss, I should eat some cooked food.

Does anyone know anything about the effect that rapid weight loss on a raw diet has on the gallbladder? I would like to stay completely raw, but I also don't want to risk getting gallstones. Are there any fruits/vegetables/greens that are especially good for the gallbladder and/or pancreas?

I am so grateful that I made through 31 day of eating 100% raw. I am definitely continuing and am ready for the next monthly challenge.

Today I had
2 bananas
I cup of pineapple
2 pears
4 crackers with avo, tomatoes and clover sprouts
2 coconut choco wafers
1 scoop of chocolate hazelnut agave gelato

I have never had to deal with it, so I don't know about rapid weight loss as connected to the formation of stones. You could consume more apples, apple juice, and grapefruit and/or it's juice. These have lots of pectin which softens stones allowing them to pass more easily. It is because of that, these are two key ingredients in liver and gall bladder flushing/cleansing routines. I hope this helps. Maybe someone with more knowledge on the rapid weight loss side of it will answer to that.
