Hello

I have been reading a lot about the yumminess and health benefits of chia seeds and I think that I am ready to take the plunge and order some. I am wondering if I should get chia seeds or the chia powder? Does it matter?

Thanks! :)

I would go with the seeds, and then you can grind them into a powder yourself, if you wish. The whole seeds make a great rendition of tapioca pudding. I feel that like flax, we don't really know how long the ground seeds have been ground, so always start with the whole seed.

I've only had the seeds. I imagine with the powder you would miss out on a big part of chia's charm by not experiencing the delicate crunchy texture.

Any product that has a lot of oil begins to go rancid as soon as it is ground so it is best to grind as you need.

There is a wonderful website called "natural news"that is having a special sale on chemical free chia seeds. $5 a pound.
I am not affiliated with the site, but I respect the work that Mike Adams, the site owner does for issues related to Health Freedom.

I've been meaning to order some too. Can anyone tell me how much I should order? How much would I use daily? Many thanks.

I'm using 1-2 tablespoons in smoothies, yogurts, or juices on most but not all days, so I expect a 16 oz. package might last me from two weeks to a month. You might want more if you intend to sprout or make cookies, puddings, or fresco in larger portions for a family.

You can put them in the freezer so there is no reason not to get a big bag and it is usually cheaper.
