has anyone encountered a problem with constipation when they began to eat raw? Please give some advice- still waiting for Alyssa's book- hoping to get it by this week

Fresh flax seed oil helps w/ constipation. Tomatoes also help, but that may particular to me.

Been raw 100% for 11 days and have had a few days like that but mostly the other extreme - so answer is yes and no.

Can you give an idea of what you are eating? What do you eat on an average day?

The time that I ever get constipation is if I eat alot of really fibrous foods. One time when I was broke, I was basically living off carrots, bananas, avocados, kale, and cabbage and I would constipated mainly because of all the carrots.

Eat 5 or 6 large sour granny smith apples one right after the other and constipation will be the least of your worries, I promise you that.

An enema will relieve that for you immediately.

Eating juicy fruits help me out and drinking your water... Oh and eating two or three oranges at one time do the trick for me also.. The Flax seed ground up and sprinkled on a salad or in a smoothy also help... Sheila

Thanks for the suggestions. Because I am new to this, do you take flax oil by teaspoonfuls or can I put it on my salad?
I juice in the am with spinach,romaine, celery, carrots & apple or I make a smoothie with strawberries,bluberries,banana, spinach- which I had today.
Someone suggested that I take 6 figs(soaked) and 2 TBL raw sesame seeds and make a pudding to help with the constipation- that helps sometimes.
I have IBS (with constipation) and take Zelnorm which I am trying to come off
of. I have already stopped my medication for GERD. This is why I started going RAW in the 1st place. I teach so I can't juice in the afternooon.
Sometimes for Lunch I have a salad, sometimes with the Mock Salmon Pate , sometimes with raw seeds.
Dinner is sometimes a big salad
Today Im eating fruit all day.
But I still haven't lost any weight- isn't that odd?
What am I doing wrong?

Flax seed oil can be good on salads, disguised in smoothies, or by the teaspoonful. It tastes kind of nuttie so it's easy to add to other recipes that call for nuts, too. If you like the taste no need to worry about things to add it to.
It may take some time for your digestion to settle. Most of us didn't consume nearly the quantities of fiber that we do on raw before the transition. Constipation, loose stools, and gas are not uncommon. Your body will strengthen over time.
