after taking kitchen counter space for granted, here i am in a shoebox, with no room for anything after the juicer.
and i think i just bought a k-tec.
Question is... Do you need a food processor if you have a k-tec?
And in general! Are there any appliances you use which can take the place of others?
The cuisinart food processor was a great workhorse for me -- but I wasn't doing gourmet.

I also live in a shoebox, but for only two more months!! I have the ktec but think that it would be better to have a food processor for some things( Making rice, shredding veggies, thicker things...) but it will have to wait. So, yes you can do w/o it but you just can't make everything. I think it just makes going out for raw food that much more special because I can order things I can't make at home.

I have the K-tec and a food processor - and my daughter has a smoothy blender just for herself :)
While I do enjoy and use all of the speeds on the K-tec, I still find that there are some things that either cannot do that the other can:
I cannot grind whole flax seeds in the processor, I can in K-tec ( Champ3 is what it's called )
The Champ doesn't take to well to extremely sticky things ..or goey.. or sludgy.. the food processor does because it has a much larger blade structure.
While you can use the Champ to rough chop a bit.. or mince a bit, there's no comparisson to what the processor can do with various different blades.
I'd say - in our household - both are indespensible
