Hi reikigal ~ I did a quick banana search (at the top of the page) for mayonnaise and it returned over 110 posts. Here's one that will get you on your way - it promises to taste exactly like storebought mayo (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=52402&highlight=mayonnaise)!

1-2 cups of raw hemp butter or raw cashew butter
sea salt
1-2 stalks of celery
1-2 inches ginger
2 cloves of garlic
onion or shallot (this really depends on onion, two thick slices of red, two green onions, or one small shallot)
juice of one big lemon or lime or one small of each... I would add a little bit and taste it first!!
small amount of agave (1/2 tsp) or stevia powder ((I skipped this step and it was still tasty))

put all of the ingredients in the food processor and puree!!

A girl I met at a local rawluck gave me this recipe, it is meant to be served over zucchini noodles and thinly sliced red bell pepper. However when I made it at home and tasted it I thought the sauce tasted a bit like ranch dressing or mayonaise or something. Its super good! You can serve it as a dip with cut up vegetables, or w/ some raw bread if you have it. YUMMY!!!

ETA: When I made this I only used one cup of raw cashew butter, 1.5 stalks of celery, a large clove of a shallot, 2 garlic cloves, juice of one lime, & some salt.

It could be something in the mayo. Maybe the fats or proteins.

The only problem with most mayo and raw ranch recipes is that they call for garlic, shallots, or onions. Those are all foods that I cannot eat :(
Anyone think I could leave the garlic out of the recipes and it still taste good? Or does anyone have any recipes that would not include those ingredients?
I think it is the fat that my body is craving because when I do allow myself to eat some nuts, I can't stop, even when it makes my stomach hurt :(
My body wants the fat, but my tummy cannot break the fat down.

I like "mayo" made from pine nuts.

1/2 cup pine nuts
1 Tablespoon olive oil
1 small clove garlic (optional)
1 1/2 Tablespoon lemon juice
1 1/2 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 Tablespoon honey or agave
1/2 teaspoon salt

Grind pine nuts first, add all except olive oil, blend until smooth. Add olive oil, blend lightly.

I love this on tomato and lettuce sandwiches on onion bread. Also on Alissa's carrot-pecan burgers.

Do garlic and onion powders have the same effect on you as fresh?

Cashew Mayonnaise

1 cup cashews, soaked 2 hours, rinsed and drained
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
2 pitted dates
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 Tablespoons olive oil
2 Tablespoons flaxseel oil (I would use more olive oil)

Blend cashews, water, lemon juice, dates, salt and powders until smooth.

While blender is running add the oil(s) slowly in a steady stream until blended in.

Store sealed in a jar in fridge. Will stay fresh for several weeks.

It could also be your body detoxing. When I'm detoxing while fasting, I often crave the item that is being released from my body...

Just another way to look at this situation.

Yes, they do :( I tried some garlic powder in a dressing the other day, and it REALLY affected me. So I guess any and all forms of garlic is bad for me, but yet could be so healthy for me!! Frustrating!!!
