What are you all fixing for your party? I need suggestions for finger food since I am not the hostess. I'd like bite-size things that don't scream "RAW."

Thanks to al you great un-cooks!

I am doing a couple things...

~taking an endive leaf, filling it with Mock Salmon and topping with a veggie. I think I will do some with tomato and some with cucumber

~sweet apple nori rolls cut into sushi size peices

~eggplant bacon wrapped dates (this one only if I can successfully make the eggplant bacon in my small halogen convection oven as I have no D....yet:))

i totally had this idea! I made some eggplant bacon that was too salty, and I can't find dates at my normal store that I go to now. but someday I'll make it!

I'm making a HUGE batch of Philip McCluskey's raw popcorn (see Episode 312 of the Renegade Health Show for the recipe - quick and easy!), making some spicy salsa with sliced cucumbers (that I'm sure non-raw eaters will be "stealing") and thinking about making Angela Elliot's cucumber pizzas. The "pizzas" are just cucumber rounds topped with olives but mine will be topped with a bit of sundried tomato and a little himalyan salt and pepper. That's all I've thought of so far...

I'm keeping my eye on this thread for ideas. I sure wish I had my dehydrator right about now!

but, stuffed mushrooms came immediately to mind.

also recommend, guacamole or raw version of seven-layer dip with guac, sour cream, refried beans, salsa etc.

enjoy!

bottom line is that no matter how sad friendly we try to make it our food is still way out there for people

christmas eve i made a whole table of "cross-over foods" portabellas stuffed with guacamole, asian cabbage salad, cookies etc etc.....i thought it's all so "normal" but seriously if it's not out of a package it's just not what people expect to see

Thanks for this input. I find it kind of discouraging, but if I just do it for me, I will feast royally!

I know what you mean, but for us it will just be my daughter and myself. We're huge football fans and we always create a FEAST just for us! It's so much fun! :p Two girls, good food and some football! w00t w00t!! :D:D ...although my best friend and her boyfriend say that may join us, so we'll see! They might, but I know that he doesn't really want to watch the game with a bunch of girls. LOL

I've been thinking about this. I think I will make pesto stuffed mushrooms and some raw chili. There will be SAD items too but I'll make plenty of the raw because despite what everyone says, they'll end up eating my stuff. I'm also making Avocado/Corn Salsa and having raw chips and regular tortilla chips. YUM! The recipe uses frozen corn (thawed) and black olives - which I allow, but otherwise is raw and was given to me by a non rawbie and I love it.

This is not finger food, and I must preface my post with "I rarely use iceberg lettuce and have never made SAD taco dip" but I LOVED taco dip and I tried tonight to make it raw.

The base is cashews, little lemon juice & water blended in HS blender until smooth; add taco seasonings at the end and stir to combine. If you chill that mixture, it gets to the consistency of cream cheese. Spread the cashew taco mix on a plate, cover w/shredded iceberg lettuce  <ok once in a blue moon isn't that bad> romaine would also work nicely then sprinkle diced tomatoes, scallions, cilantro and minced jalapenos on the top. Serve with dehydrated corn chips. Oh my, it is divine.

I also love making creamy dill dip with cashews, lemon juice & water, seasonings and serve with sliced veggies. I had that out at our New Years party this year and it was very well received.
