Yayyy!!! I'm so incredibly excited for you! I remember the day I brought Veeta home...ahhhh, the joy!! I was so "out of my mind" excited that I just kept touching it, didn't know what to make first. :p I think I made a million variations of smoothies after I got over the shell shock of actually owning a Vita Mix! lol Oh, now I'm remembering, I also made banana ice cream! How awesome that was!!!!!

Make a green smoothie! You will not believe how smooth your greens will become. Have fun! I hope you've cleared your calendar so you can spend the next few days in the kitchen. Do you have Alissa's book? If so, find the blender recipes - you will be eating delicious food!

I made nut mylk because i thought i didn't have enough greens to make a smoothie but then I found I did. The green smoothie was alright but I know when i pick up groceries im going crazy on produce!!! The nut mylk was very interesting... thick and creamy. I liked it but I may get some more cheese cloth so I can strain it.

Ok, so what's next on your list to make? :D You should try gazpacho. Super easy and oh so tasty! There's a recipe around here that I used. I just added more onion, garlic and cayenne...it was so yum, my 11 year old requested that I prepare it again for dinner the following night! Let me go grab the link for you.
ETA the link and the recipe. DebB posted it in this thread (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=56808)
How about Gazpacho - I could eat this several times a week! Personally, I add gobs of fresh cilantro (instead of parsley), but that's my taste. I also add cumin...
Jennifer Cornbleet's Gazpacho
Gazpacho (from Raw Food Made Easy by Jennifer Cornbleet) - Serves 1.
2 1/2 roma tomatoes, seeded and cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1/4 red bell pepper, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1/4 cucumber, peeled, seeded, and cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1 green onion, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1 T chopped fresh parsley
2 T extra virgin olive oil
1/2 t crushed garlic (1 clove)
1/4 t salt
Dash black pepper
Dash cayenne
1/2 ripe avocado, diced, for garnish (optional)
Place everything except the avocado in a food processor, and pulse until blended but still chunky. Refrigerate or serve right away. Garnish with avocado.
Notes: I always use avocado, and I use 1 large tomato instead of 2 roma tomatoes when I'm out of romas. This serves 1 person, I double the recipe for my husband and me. I tried once with 1 small orange pepper (instead of half a large pepper) and my DH said it was the best gazpacho he ever had so far. It's funny, last summer I tried several lengthy gazpacho recipes with ingredients like sherry that I had bought specially for the occasion, and they weren't very successful. I try a simple raw one, and it's a success
I removed the link since we're not allowed to link to another forum. It's from Raw Freedom Community - I don't feel right not giving credit.

o0o0o I was looking for a good salsa recipe! my blender doesn't seem to like... hard icecream. This sure doesn't like to cut anything that isn't small... I thought I saw on the website or read somewhere you can toss a whole apple in there, stem and all and it didn't work... if anything is big does it have to be submersed in a liquid.

I threw whole apples in mine and made apple sauce for my daughter and Veeta whipped it right up! Your Vita Mix doesn't like to make ice cream either? What exactly happens when you try to make these two things? ...my ice cream isn't rock hard or anything, but it is a very nice/similar consistency to the real thing.

well I didn't cut up the apple so I dont know... I just assumed whole meant the entire thing... and my old ice cream was pretty first... its like its not grinding it or it cant because it wont sit down the sides to get to the blades ??? I had to break it apart to get it to blend it.
i hope its my fault and not the blender :(

Yes, I get that you didn't cut up the apple by hand...that's why I was asking what happened with your machine when you tried to blend it/them. Did you not use your tamper? I put a whole apple in mine, I just threw one in there now to test again. I used my tamper to push it down on the blade and the Vita Mix had not problems with it.
As for the ice cream, how much ice did you put it in? I usually make banana ice cream. I put in a little nut milk, two frozen bananas, walk it up to 10 and flip it on high for a little bit and I see it mixing and getting creamy and when it sort of separates itself into quadrants, I know it's ready. I don't blend it too long because it to get watery. Try going on YT and finding some banana ice cream vita mix tutorials and you'll see her walk you through it.

I did use the tamper and it barley touched the apple,.
The ice cream i think i stated was premade (made it a few days ago) and was rock hard. I took it out of the ziplock bag I had and threw it in. It was very hard ice cream but figured the blender should have no problem blending it if it can do ice.
I had to plunge it with the tamper a million times, then i added liquid which helped a little but still wasn't going down. I think had to take the hard ice cream out of my blender and then break it up with my hands and then toss it back in before it could blend it.
I don't think theres a problem with the blades but its like if it's large it hardly gets chopped, tamper and all.

Hmm, that puzzles me.

Oooh, I missed the premade/already frozen part. But don't fret, just add some liquid to it and it should blend. Sometimes I make too much icecream or I just experiment and don't care for the flavor but don't want to trash it...I just freeze it and then when I think of a way to make it better, I add a little nut milk and whatever else I want to add to it and it mixes right away.

How much liquid did you add to the frozen ice cream? I think I added about a cup...it all depends on just how much frozen mass you have.
ETA: Because it's frozen you're going to have to use the tamper quite a bit in order to get the frozen stuff down to the blades.

about the tamper and the apple I meant to say the apple was barely effected by the blades I don't know what happened.
The ice cream i kinda figured maybe that it just needed some liquid and maybe I didn't use enough. I will use more liquid right now.
thank you for your help:)

You're very welcome! I just pulled a frozen block of a banana-lemon concoction that I made two weeks ago . Now that stuff was hard as a brick. I added a couple of peeled clementines and not quite a cup of almond milk. It took a good amount of work with me pushing the frozen block down into the blades, but having the milk and juice from the clementine certainly helped. I've learned that when the blades stall, it definitely needs more liquid.
And I have to say thank you for having this trouble...it created the opportunity for me to play with my Veeta again and now my daughter and I are eating some yummy banana, lemon, clementine ice cream. :D:D

Oh and about the apples, did you crank it all the way up to 10 and then high and use the tamper. When those blades get to cranking around at top speed and I'm pressing with the tamper I find nothing has a chance. Plunge away, it won't break!
