Well, why precisely do you "need" to balance it out? Is your body feeling bad? Are you getting ill? Is your energy low?
What amount of fruit versus greens/fats, etc. do you eat daily?

^ What they said.
What exactly feels out of balance for you? Are you saying you've eaten nothing but fruit for months, or just a larger portion of fruit than you think is healthy?
A lot of people thrive on fruit-based diets -- it's not a bad thing! You've got to get your calories from somewhere. If you're feeling too "sugared out," try upping your greens rather than cutting down on fruit.

Yes, I feel way sugared out.
Mostly, I notice that I will continue to eat it past the point of satiation. Eating way more than my body needs to feel satisfied at the time and having the distinct feeling of "insulin resistance" where it seems like after a certain amount of sugar, my body just wants to keep eating because it is trying to initiate the insulin response to balance me out....but then i over-eat.
I am attributing a lot of it to over-wroking and convenience. Rather than prepare and sit and enjoy a meal, I will just eat a gazillion apples.
And yes, I do feel fatigued. Can also be attributed to over-working.
And also I had the distinct intuition that for the winter season it is time to lay off for awhile. I'd really like to change my habit for the next few months and wait for the fruits to come back around in nature.
thanks SO much for the responses btw

Not here, not now. It is too damp and chilly in our state. The dank chill seeps into my bones. I could do all fruit for short bursts in the summer, but in the winter.... No way. I am craving fats this winter, especially hempseeds and avocados.
Alissa's book has a chapter titled "The Three Food Groups".
Leafy greens and vegetables
Sweet and non-sweet fruits
Fats (avocados, nuts, olives, coconuts)
In this chapter she states:
"Selecting foods from all the principal groups - fats, greens, and fruits - will insure a properly balanced diet. If you do not eat from all three sources your body will eventually become nutritionally out of balance. It's that simple."
"Sweet fruits will keep your blood sugar up, leafy greens give you needed minerals, and you'll get more endurance from the fats."
Your body is talking loud and clear. Try adding leafy greens and some simple fats to see what that does for you.

i am relatively low fat right now for that exact reason and that has helped my overall picture dramatically!! I do know that I was managing the fruit better before the holidays when some fats re-entered my diet.
i gained weight etc.
i need to fast but with my crazy (wonderful) life it just hasn't held quite yet.
Anyway, greens will be the answer. I just needed the cyber pals to connect me to my raw sense again ;)

Crazy wonderful is great! So is overworking! I spent this afternoon at your alma mater for a meeting with the Herb Garden Guild. Love that place! :)

I can see overly eating fruit in one meal may cause one to feel a little quesey (sp?) if you're not use to it. But if you compare it to the intake of processed sugar in the SAD diet, you still come out a winner.

You could try making a big batch of sprouted hummus. When you are feeling rushed and uncreative, just enjoy with some carrot sticks. that way you are getting lots of nutrients without spiking your blood sugar levels.
Good luck:)

Green smoothies!
I'd be careful of increasing fats for a bit... since you're on a higher-fruit diet right now, you may experience yeast issues if you do so.
My advice is to start adding greens: green smoothies, green juices, simple and well-combined salads- preferably lower-fat. Try low-fat blended soups using high-water content veggies like tomato and cucumber.
Then, once your greens are up and you're feeling a bit better, consider upping your fats.
Are you getting enough sleep? Exercise?
Just my opinion. Listen to your body, ultimately.

thanks for the fat/sugar yeast affirmation!
that is totally my experience. One or the other is fine.....both not so much ;)
But so here is the deal. Last night is a perfect example. Came home from work at 8:30 not super hungry but it had been a couple of hours. All I planned to do was clean up, meditate, sleep. An orange sounded good........I ate 4.
This morning, ate breakfast, driving to work..an apple sounded good. I ate 2.
blech.
greens greens greens greens!!!!!:D
it is green jeanie not fruitini!

yes, try getting a juice blender and doing a 50/50 juice and fruit blender with some protein powder. This will help level you out along with exercise.

Protein powder is totally unnecessary. Use greens and get natural amino acids which the body will utilize easily.

You could also look into a Magic Bullet with the large pitcher. I've had one for many yrs. this is what I make my smoothies in. It's very cold here in the south too. I've been eating avocados like crazy past few weeks. Laying off of them now. Try some hummus w/fresh veggies or in a lettuce leaf..I love a tomato 'sandwich' like that. Make some simple soups.

I sort of have the opposite problem.
My body thrives on mostly fruit, but I am sick to death of the types I can afford during winter. So I'm forcing myself to eat green smoothies to get the fruit and greens in.
I wish I could afford/thrived on salads, soups, etc.
Maybe you could find some combos that you like.
Best of luck!

Hey there, make sure you aren't combining fruit & fat in the same meal, I recommend you learn about proper food combining, it makes all the difference.
I eat more fruit than any womyn in Australia (& probably the States) and cleared up my candida imbalance/blood sugar issues within 5days on JUST fruit....one thing I've learnt is that its never the fruit's fault or the quantity but its the body, conditions & other influences that we bring to the meal table that governs how fruit behaves in our bodies.
Fruit is like a jealous partner it wants you all to itself, it goes through the digestive process very quickly therefore if we have meat, dairy & dehydrated foods in our bellies and bowels (that can take days to pass!) then the fruit will mix with them & cause a chemical explosion which leads to hypoglycemia, diabetes, athritis, candida overgrowth...& eventually cancer...
Also the fats from these foods keeps the fruit sugar in the blood for unnatural periods of time this can cause all sorts of problems with blood sugar levels as the pancreas gets overworked from producing so much insulin in an effort to escort the sugar out of the bloodstream and into the cells...when the pancreas has had enough the adrenal glands step in and then it's all downhill...
Lower your fat levels and make it a rule not to combine your fruit & fat, eg- don't eat sweet fruits after fatty meals, meat, dairy etc...then life will be sweet!
