View Full Version : About to start eating Raw for 1st time following Master Cleanse, supportive advice?
Hi, I want to start a raw food diet (for the first time) following a 15-day Master Cleanse. I did the Master Cleanse a few months ago and I loved it. This time around I'm going to use the Master Cleanse iphone app for support (last time my friend did it with me - which was lots of support). After completing the cleanse I became very mindful of what I was putting into my body and felt a bit weird eating animal products. So my question is this: I want to start a raw food lifestyle following the Master Cleanse. I'm a bit nervous and am just wondering if you guys have any suggestions for a beginning raw food lifestyle? Also, I LOVE food - the flavours, textures, colours and connections!

Congratulations on your decision and welcome to RFT! I began my raw food journey after completing a 12 day master cleanse back in October. It wasn't a difficult transition at all. My taste buds seem to have lost their point of reference for so many foods after the cleanse was complete. I haven't had nor wanted coffee or diet coke (both of which I was addicted to). My only hang up was chocolate, but after I watched many of the food documentaries (Food Matters, Food Inc and The World according to Monsanto) I found it quite easy to abandon it...I've since then found the joys of cacao.
One thing that I noticed, and that was mentioned here recently, is that while on the cleanse (and now) i enjoy the smells of foods I've abandoned (especially coffee), but I don't crave and/or want them. Using the cleanse as a jump off for the raw food lifestyle really helped me to think more objectively about food, how I was using it and what I was consuming. I'm grateful for the experience.
I wish you all the best!

If You force Yourself into raw diet just because You "should do it",You are at risk of falling back into previous stages(meateating etc).Becauseif body is denied what it asks for(even meat, whatever),it will/might revolt later, puttingYou also forcefully back to at what it REQUIRES to exist.I suggest You do not antagonize with it,but ntroduce any changes only in case You DO want to eat smthng specific, not because You presumably "should " do it(yet heartbreakingly anyway).Good luck

Easier than you think. Get the junk out of the house and stock up on the good food!
Thanks so much guys for your supportive words. I have a question though. Michigan Roman, your reply to my original post was the following list:
"banana
orange
romaine
pineapple
sprouts : mung/pea/rye/buckwheat
raisins
avacado
mushroom
brocoli
lemon
walnut
pumpkin seed
flax seed
spinach
kale
onion"
I know these are raw foods, but is this a type of starter group, suggestions, or what you recommend? Surely this is only a small list of raw foods? Thank you!
