Hey peeps. First off, I'm really glad i found this forum. I love wasting time reading and posting on forums. I'm gonna share my story (sorry in advance for the length) and hopefully change my life for the better starting with every bite I eat from here on out.

Rewind to 10 years ago... 11 years old. I was the kid who "hated" veggies. I would barley touch salads. Never ate celery, tomatoes (even though i loved pizza), onions, broccoli, colli, or anything called a veggie. I may have had a banana once a week if I was lucky. I practically lived on frosted flakes and chips ahoy (chocolate chip cookies). Even when my parental units made me stay at the table until I finished my veggies, I would much rather stuff them down my pants when they weren't looking than actually eat the darn things. The dog helped me out a lot too. My body, internally at least, must have looked like a train wreck.

Fast forward through high school with about the same diet. Then in college I started expanding my appetite. Tried new things, liked new things, started eating baked potatoes, mushrooms, avocados, and loved it the whole time. Only problem with this food was that it was cooked, and must have been loaded with unhealthyness since it came from Sodexho (my universities choice in food suppliers).

After freshman year I moved into a fraternity where we basically deep fried everything we could get our hands on... bananas, pb&j's, beer, you name it. Not exactly healthy even by ADA's standards (And let me just say that I have a new found hate for the ADA).

Somehow in all this, I've managed to never weigh over 160 standing 6ft2in. This past summer my mom attended some raw food things in DC and decided to get a Vitamix, food processor, dehydrator, books and the whole shabang. I was initially opposed to all the hype but after she made me my first "green drink" I had to have my own V.

Now I'm a senior in college and I've been doing green smoothies (either spinach or kale with an apple and banana) daily for breakfast every day for the past few months. I love them, they make me feel more alert than a cup of coffee, and they taste much better too :D

I was still on the SAD in terms of lunches and dinners, but I did start eating as many fruits and veggies that I could get my hands on.

Over the past month (my college winter break) I've read Fit For Life cover to cover along with Viktoras Kulvinskas' stuff and I've decided that I want to be 50%raw and 50% vegan as much as I can. I'm setting goals to combine my food properly at every meal and to not eat anything that's not "living food".

So I've been transitioning pretty quickly so that hopefully I'll be totally cleansed and "out of the woods" so to speak when I go back to school next week. I've done a juice fast for a week, colon cleansing and a lot of "not eating anything bad for me." I bought about $40 worth of different nuts and seeds to get the rest of those vitamins that I'm missing.

I've found that I'm rarely tired these days and sleep about 6 hours a night. I've been extremely productive, happy, and ache and pain free too. I'm really excited that I've been fortunate enough to stumble upon all of this new information that should actually be "common sense". It's truly sad what they teach about nutrition these days :(.

Anyways thanks for reading if you made it this far... and if you didn't here are the cliff notes:
1. Never ate healthy
2. Started eating healthy
3. Much happier

Welcome! *waves hello* :)

I have to say that as I read your story I couldn't help but smile from ear to ear! Congratulations on your wonderful health decisions and thank goodness for moms! :D

I totally agree with you about feeling far more alert after a green smoothie than coffee. I'm still in shock over the fact that I haven't had a cup of coffee or a diet coke since Oct 16...this from a woman who drank them both like water! Oooh, how far we've come!

I wish you all the best on your journey!
