Hi Everyone:
This is my second day of being completely raw. I've been reading about it for weeks (maybe months) and slowly incorporating more raw foods into my diet, but was hesitant---okay, afraid---to commit to being 100% raw. I have about 55 pounds that I need to lose, I want to get off my blood pressure meds (my cholesterol is high, too) and I just generally don't feel healthy. I'm always having some sort of minor health issue. So one day that Einstein quote popped into my head ("Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results.") and I realized that I knew what I needed to do if I was really truly ready to for change...for different results. I knew that I needed to just go raw. That was a couple of days ago. I spent that day grocery shopping and getting rid of food that might tempt me to go astray. Interestingly, I am not tempted in the least and it has not been difficult in the least. Not even a single craving. I look at SAD food and all I think is..."eat that and you're signing your death certificate." And I know myself: if I can get through the first day, then I'm home free. It was the same thing nearly a year ago when I quit smoking. I'd tried and tried to quit and could never make it past the first day. But when I was finally truly "ready" to do it, I just stopped. Just like that. And I have never had one craving or one thought about cigarettes since then.

I'm really thrilled about finding this online community. It's always good to have like-minded people to steer you along and accompany you on your journey. I look forward to being an active part of this community.

Have a happily raw 2010 everyone!!!!!!

Welcome soon-to-be SkinnyGal. ;) Perfect to keep telling yourself you are now. Don't forget to visualize too. Even better to post pics of how you want to look on your computer and in your home. I didn't have any issues with becoming raw or cravings either . There's just too many raw replacements for every single food. It's fun! :)

Love your profile pic.

Thanks sport and Dimond for the warm welcome. Today is going pretty well, though I am starting to get pretty tired. I don't seem to have enough steam to make it through the evenings. I get completely wiped at around 8pm. But that's okay. I've been telling myself that I need to be in bed around 8.30 to read for an hour or so and then asleep before 10. The good part of it all is that I'm waking up very early, just before dawn, which I really enjoy.

If your just starting out, you'd really love Alissa's book and DVD.....hey, your going to bed early anyway to read. Most people devour her book when they get it. It really has all the in's and out's to going raw. Sounds like you've been doing alot to take care of your health.....congrats on getting rid of the cigarettes. I personally have never smoked but my father did when I was young and quit when I was 5 years old. He still says to this day that quitting smoking was the hardest thing he's ever done. He also said that he still will have a time here and there when he will have to leave when in a smoke filled room and won't even allow himself to even put his finger on a cigarette because he knows he'll be hooked just like that......well, that was 42 years ago and I'm so grateful for his strength....I'm sure it made a difference in the health I enjoy today. So I take my hat off to you and say congrats.....keep it up. I'm sure raw and living foods will be a snap for you. Welcome to the forum and enjoy!
