Not a big fan of dates... Does anyone have suggestions for alteratives I can use instead of dates? Especially for desserts. :D

Be sure they are unsulphured... well, all dried fruit should be unsulphured.

Have you tried any of the recipes with dates? Depending on what else is in the recipe I have found that the date flavor isn't so strong - more of a sweetness than a date flavor. Might be worth a try.

Have you tried fresh dates? I use to not like the dried ones. Fresh are amazing. The dried does work very well in recipes though if you can't get fresh.

Exactly. Dates are quite neutral compared to most other dried fruits. They give it a slight caramel flavor if anything.
Raisins is a good and cost effective alternative, but it will give it a stronger and darker flavor. Figs are more neutral but might not work in some recipes.

They look all brown and dead compared to the pretty orange sulphured ones I see at the supermarket.

And I don't understand why that is - I've dehydrated (completely untreated) apricots and they didn't turn all brown, so I've wondered  about that. *Ü*
