Hi I am brand new to the raw lifestyle and was wondering if I would be able to replace a dehydrator (until I get one) with a regular convection oven set at a low setting? What is the difference?

I've heard that you can't set a convection oven low enough to keep the food raw. Nevertheless, you can simply use the oven light (keeping the oven off). I've never tried this though.

Hi Angelina,
I have heard anything more then 105 from some people and others say 115 I believe. Isn't that the way it always is? Always differing opinions. I did hear the light bulb in the oven trick is ok to use. Someone tried it by putting a thermometer in their oven.

I tried to keep my regular oven below 110 using an inside the oven thermometer, and I could not. It seemed like the oven's internal thermometer was determined to get the inside temp up to 150....I ended up cooking my freshly sprouted buckwheat  I was really upset, because I kept watching the oven, opening the door (I even fanned the oven trying to cool it off)...nothing worked.....I'll be checking into a dehydrator. Don't know if this helps, but that's just my experience.
