I'm looking to buy boxes of greens and fruit - located in central WI.
What I've heard so far is that I'd need to be a licensed business, or if just ordering bulk from a site, it's really really expensive, or suppliers just plain don't ship here.
Does anyone have contacts for around this area? or be willing to explain the process of getting a TaxID# and what that means for tax filing, etc?

Where in WI are you?
I'm in the Oshkosh area.
I work at a small health food store & we will sell cases of produce to people for a discounted price.
Do you have any health food stores, or local farmers in your area? If so, all you have to do is ask & I'm sure they can accomodate :)
Most companies have large minimums to meet - I know ours is $350/per week for our produce orders.

Stevens Point - 54481.
Ya, $350 was what one of the companies said! Wow :D Plus I'd need a taxID#.
I asked some of the workers at the local coop and they said no discounts for bulk orders. Very odd!
Can you PM me with some prices? ie: Celery, romaine, spinach, banana, mango, pineapple, oranges, apples.

Hi,
I don't know what the prices are - they change every week - we know on Monday, then order Tuesday. The only thing is the owner only gives somesort of discount on cases of items - some cases contain up to 30 pcs - I don't know how much you're looking for. The other things is that he requires prepayment on special orders (which means paying by Monday before 6pm) & they would have to be picked up between Thursday afternoon & Friday mid morning - due to lack of extra storage in the fridge. That would be a long haul to get your produce - we're about 1 1/2hrs from Stevens Point. I'm not sure if there is anyone closer to you? Maybe you could get a few friends to spilt the cases with you?

Definitely looking for a minimum of a case a per time. If high fruit works for me, it would be much more.
I dunno what I was thinking as far as the distance.. I was hoping that it could be shipped to me. hah :) I can understand that being too much of a hassle, but if possible, is it still cheaper than normal w/ the discount?

have you talked to the manager of the produce section at your grocery store? the case discount might not be very much, but at least you don't have to pay for shipping, etc.

Unfortunately we have no way to ship fresh produce. The pricing would save you some, but by the time you add in the gas to pick it up - you might not be too much ahead of the game. Do you have any health food stores in your area with a produce section? I think checking locally with all the stores in a 15 mile radius may give you winning results & save you money in the long run.

No farmer market in your area? The one i have, we can get a lot of organic produce for a decent price.
Hope you manage to find a way!

Ya, I checked the co-op. I will ask again to see if it's changed in 2 months.
and it's white outside ^_^
I called all grocers around here and only County Market would give a discount. It's so awesome that I was able to find a deal!! So now I should be able to usually get a case of bananas $1/lb.
