with the other smoothie ingredients without straining? Does the body derive nutrition from it. I don't have a wheatgrass juicer and I've already seen the video on making wheatgrass juice in the vitamix. Just wondering.
Thanks.

Our bodies don't digest grass well. I'd blend the grass in water, strain, then use the water/juice in the smoothie. Well, actually I wouldn't. Why ruin a perfectly good smoothie?

I got a good chuckle out of this. I was reading Revvell's post thinking, "Ohhh - I wouldn't want to add WG to my smoothie" and then read the last sentence.:D
I use my BlendTec to blend my wheatgrass by adding water, and cut WG (I cut the blades in thirds), water and 2 ice cubes, then strain. I have a Champion juicer, but I haven't been able to juice the WG with it. *Ü*

At Whole Foods tonight during a Vita Mix demonstration (w00t w00t!), the lady blended wheat grass, pineapple, blueberries, lime, strawberry, orange and banana (some ice) and it was AWESOME. I didn't even taste the wheat grass. I didn't know it was hard to digest. Thankfully, we only had one of those little cup fulls...but it sure was yummy! :p

Okay, what to do, what to do. Thanks!
I would say if you're really wanting to add WG, start with a little and see how you like it?
Personally, I'd rather just juice it and down the juice and be done with it. I've heard that you're supposed to sip it slowly and chew it, etc. - but I can't do that. I down that bad boy and leave it up to my body to sort it all out. http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad169/DebB4007/drinking.gif

I have found if you hold it in your mouth for a bit, swish it around (which is good for teeth and gums, btw) it becomes sweeter.
In the case of blending it with your smoothie, I'm thinking the pineapple counteracted the taste of it. Like Deb, no wg in MY smoozie! Uh uhhhh! nope! ick! *wrinkles nose*

Ya know what I found was the earlier it's cut the better it tastes. Not good, but better, lol!

I've been thinking of introducing Wheatgrass into my life.... I'll definitely do a little research on this but since we're on the topic already: can you add something like Agave to sweeten the juice?

Chure. But it's already sweet. That's the problem with it methinks. Citrus cuts the flavor yet, some actually enjoy it.

Oh! Here I've been thinking for years that Wheatgrass is bitter! Now I feel silly. :D

No worries. No, it's got a very unique flavor/fragrance. Just thinking about it gives me a funny feeling in the back of my throat.

I've had wheatgrass juice twice and I loved the taste of it. Definitely sounds like a dope Smoooooozie base to me.
