I went to the store the other day to get some tahini, and the person who assisted me said that apparantly raw tahini is really difficult to come by because of some new gov't regulations. I must investigate this more. Does anybody else know anything about it?

Also, I ended up getting black sesame tahini, which is way more coarse and not nearly as nice as the regular. What can I use it for?

Don't know about the black sesame tahini, but the Whole Foods I shop at still has raw tahini in their refrigerated section... I hope it doesn't go away!

I order mine from Matt Monarch's site, Artisana brand. I thought it was raw... *Ü*

This is too funny. I just wrote about making my own raw tahini in the Alissa and Annie thread. It's at the beginning of the section I just right now posted. It is easy, peasy and good and when I make my own I know it is fresh! Good luck!

I hear you! I've been to every health store in the area and couldn't find raw tahini. I had to go to one 3 HOURS AWAY before I finally found it! Thankfully it was a good sized container so it will last until I'm in that area again :p

A guy who works at Wholefoods told me that outlawing unpasteurized tahini was one of George W Bush's very final contributions as president of the United States of America... you can find the stuff, but it's not easy.
