hey guys,
i know this is a sefish and small problem and question...But, Has anyone else had a dramatic change in thier skin/complexion...I used to suffer from pretty bad cystic acne, all over pretty much, i never had the little pimples so much, just always huge under the skin puss-filled, swollen..well, you guys know. And for 2 years since cutting meat, and dairy..and bread..and sugar and traveling down this raw path, i have had great improvments..it makes me happy to think about how much it has changed for the better..but still, i get a cystic pimple now and again, and generally it seems like my pores are just simply clogged with junk..Not to mention, I think my skin just doesnt grow right on the cellular level, cause its dry allot, and almost transparent-ish if you get close..again, i have made great improvement..but its always red..and ruff, and when i get pimples or like, an ingrown hair or something, its just a long nasty scabby flaky healing process i have to deal with..and im just wondering if the cloeeged feeling is because my body just still hasnt gotten rid of all the junk i used to fill it with, but is doing so slowly..or if this is just something i was destined to have.. I dont think so cause when i was a kid, my skin was normal...youd think if it was something genetic it would have always been a problem..its not something i obsess about anymore really like i used to..but after i am out and get hot and sweaty, i come in all red and it feels like my skin is dead...im sorry its so long, i just wanted to get all that out and see if anyone can sympathise or give adivce...again, its not as much the pimples im worried about, cuase i dont really get them so bad anymore..its just simply the dead-ness in my skin that bothers me..
thanks for reading this long and vain thread

Hi Dusty,

please get rid of all things that you put on your face, and ONLY use fresh honey with a bit of water to wash with, if you MUST put something on your face, like a moisturizer, then ONLY use fresh extra virgin raw cold pressed olive oil, actually, you don't need anything on your face, but it may take a few weeks for your skin to un-react to normal soaps, detergents, shampoos dripping down from your face etc.

Please try this is works magic on all skin types,

Honey is an antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal, and will help with any wounds, or sores, open and non open sores. hair, face, skin all over, it is really good stuff.

RP,
Does it have to be "raw" honey? or the regular cheaper kind at supermarkets will do? I eat the raw unpasterized kind, but just curious.
thanks! I will have to try this and suggest this to my friend who gets acne (but greatly improved since quitting dairy and SAD food. and she started juicing)

Hey Punky,

Great question,

any honey will do, as long as it is real honey, not some kind of honey spread, etc.

it will NOT lather though, just to let you know.

also works great on dishes and hair, and body too.

Thanks RP! I will definately have to try it; it will save me louds in beauty products if it works for me.

Dusty, do you juice at all? Juicing dark greens has helped my friend's skin alot along with some dietary changes (which I see you have already done). Green smoothies would be good too if you don't have a juicer; either one equally.
I see your from Austin; nice and hot and humid which can aggrevate
and clog my pores as well (i live in the dallas metro); when I was 18 and lived in Lubbock for a year it really cleared my skin up since it is so much dryer there even though it is hot too. I guess what I am trying to say is not to be too hard on yourself, some of it is the climate that can add to skin issues. Cucumber in my juices get my skin glowing more too.

RP,

Now I know why the honey hasn't been working for me. I've been using a "whipped" honey from Trader Joe's that I had lying around. I'll switch to the normal honey. Thanks!

This whole thing about honey kills me. When I think honey I think sticky goey mess. The thought of putting it in my hair... Raw Priestess I think you're the queen, but convince me more.

I have been using the honey and lime or lemon juice on my hair and it works great!

As for complexion...I keep one of those squeezetop honey bears in my shower and wash my face there,,,,,,,,,,,it is not sticky at all but rinses off quickly and cleanly.....I have rosacea and since using the honey my skin is looking very good..........for the last week I have been using Bach's rescue remedy cream on my face at night and it looks amazing, less red, clear and very fresh. Give the honey I try....just keep it out of your hair when washing your face, unless you can rinse your hair too~

Carlene,

Queen Rawpriestess here,Actually we decided that Autumn was the Queen in the Raw/Vegan Doggin threat

LOL

Okay, all you do is put about 1 teaspoon in the palm of your hand, and put it into your already wet hair, just massage it in the scalp area, don't worry about the ends, and use some water to massage in, and then if you want to add more, you can, but you don't really need to, I know you will WANT to, but again, it won't lather and you don't need to.

Then after you rinse, and you dry your hair, if you think it is sticky then you can wash it again, but it will be soooooo smooth and silky.

You can use lemon juice to rinse with if you like about 1/2 cup lemon juice to 1/2 cup water, and just rinse your hair, do not rinse out the rinse, but this can make your hair lighten up a bit, if you are out in the sun.

If you choose, you can also rinse your hair with tea, or coffee, again 1/2 and 1/2 if you have dark hair.

Or just try it on your hands or face first, and see how you like it.

I'm going to try this tonight on my face, as it mystifies me! I too would not think honey could be used for "washing" anything. I'm definitely going to try on my face, and if I get brave, I'll try it on the hair too! So, do you not use any shampoo or conditioner???

I do notice that when i am on a raw spree my skin clears up, like right now. i totally get pimples tho, and actually i am using some totally NOT raw face products now - which i had major issues with, as i had always been au natural for everything. i live in NY City, so sometimes i feel like i may need something extra to clean away the muck! the natural products just were not working - and these seem to. eventually i want to let them go, but i am focusing on my diet for now.

if anyone wants to convince me not to use these products, that's ok

..I am thouroughly enjoying using honey as a facial wash. The results have been wonderful. I had an large detox/menses related "eruption" right next to my nose the other day. Dabbed a little honey on it with a "Q-tip" and went about doing my chores. I rinsed my face before leaving the house a few hours later. By the end of the same day, the acne was barely noticeable. The part I love the most...no scaring, and no flaky skin. I'm not even tempted to "pick" at any acne. I know the honey is doing it's thing.

Debbie I was just thinking about using that very same honey. It says whipped and not-cooked I think. Maybe that doesn't mean unheated. There was a discussion here a while back started by Sweet G that said honey must say un-heated, it can't say raw or not cooked because it could have still been heated.

My acne is flaring up pretty bad right now, as I'm detoxing from a juice fast. I went out and got some honey today to try--but how often do you wash your face with it? My skin is oily so I have been washing twice a day (with over the counter stuff) in the morning and at night. Is that too much? Or is it OK to use honey twice a day?

I use witch hazel as an astringent about twice a day. I like those oil absorbing sheets alot, theyre just expensive

I have rosacea. For 10 years plus, my face has been pretty red with a vicious cycle of pimples. Since going raw (1 year) the redness has decreased significantly. The pimples are still hanging around.

However, just recently ( about 1 month) I have been adding huge amounts of greens to my morning shake. I also make extra, which I pour into a recycled jar, and I bring it to work and drink it throughout the day. My pimples are getting less and less. I believe that it has helped me significantly.

Hope this helps!

Wow, I'm going to try the honey.

I have noticed since I've been eating raw and juicing that my skin looks so much better. One of my neighbors told me the other day I have beautiful skin and I was surprised, it's been YEARS since I've heard that.
