I am making 9 trays of dehydrated flax crackers and wonder what is the best way to store them and how long will they last. I am thinking an air tight container of bag in the fridge or freezer. Any thoughts?

thanks,
Tim

I put mine in a container but not in the fridge.. They'd prob get soggy in the fridge..I just leave mine on top of my oven (rarely used--only to cook my husband cooked vegan food)..

ViolinCyndee,

How long do they last like that outside the fridge?

A long time! I have had crackers for 1-2 weeks in a container. I think they'd last even longer, but I always eat them within 1-2 weeks! :)

Thanks Cyndee! Does anyone else have any other methods they use?

I was once told from a seasoned raw foodist who had attended Ann Wigmore's school that once they are dehydrated they will be good forever pretty much- within reason of course, I'd say months. I made up 27 trays of my mexican flax seed cracker's last fall when my garden was abundant. I put them in plastic (sorry but works well) ice cream pails and put them in the freezer just for good measure. We are still eating them and they are delish, we just take out a pail when we run out or I even take out just what I need and put them back in the freezer. I think this is okay, if not I'm open to corrections!

I keep crackers in an airtight container on the counter. I don't know how long crackers would stay fresh stored that way. The crackers always get eaten within 3 weeks because my brother and another friend always finish off whatever crackers are in the house, every time they come to visit.
