but is it true the vita mix blender kills live active enzymes? I just read on another forum, someone said that I thought that was a little odd.. if its not actually heating up to the point to break something down why should it destroy it...?

Unless rupturing the walls of whatever your blending to help absorb better actually somehow... kills the nutrients??? PFF I don't know.. it sounded like the person didn't know what they were talking about. I'm going to assume so because I know so many of you have vita mix and wouldn't use anything that ruined the nutrience:). A lil feed back to help me out??? :P

If you run the vitamix for too long, yes, it will heat up. You can even make boiling hot soup in it.

However, just making a smoothie, salad dressing, processing food for other recipes usually can be done in a matter of seconds, and it will not heat over the magic 118 degree temperature where enzymes start losing their punch.

If you're making something really thick, like almond butter, sometimes it may get a little heated. The solution to that is to intermittently stop and rest the vitamix for a few seconds. But I've never had to do that in the three years I've had mine.

Hope this helps.

BTW, that's not a dumb questions. You were just seeking information. That's good. :)
