View Full Version : Uses for sprouts

I have started growing my own sprouts, so far mung, lentils, and alfalfa. How do you eat your sprouts besides putting them in salads, or putting them in raw sandwiches. Any new ideas? Recipes? Can one dehydrate and use in recipes? It is really fun watching day by day the little sprouts growing and providing us with such goodness.
Have a great raw day!
I've only sprouted mung beans once (just a could weeks ago) and I enjoyed just snacking on them.
You must be able to season them up and dehydrate them, because I read on another site about it - although they gave no details. So, I'm assuming it was the larger sprouts like mung or lentils..
I've tried adding alfalfa sprouts to my green smoothie and I was really surprised that I could not cover their strong taste with the fruit, so I don't do that anymore http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad169/DebB4007/animated%20gifs/winkNA.gif.
I've seen YT videos of folks putting the big sprouts in soups for a nice texture and crunch.
I watched this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdIbQ7H6HG4) a couple days ago and he showed a chef making an Asian Flair Salad with wild rice. I'm sprouting lentils and going to substitute those for the rice. I hope the sub. works. *Ü*

I usually put my mung bean sprouts in a bowl with a little oil and lemon, and maybe some liquid aminoes (like a soy sauce substitute). A big bowl makes a nice lunch. I have tried drying them but mine came out tasting like dirt, so they went in the hopper (why do I know what dirt tastes like?:)). I have ground them into kale chip coating, chopped them into faux burgers and flax crackers and they were good that way
