Well, some of you know that my hubby, Dragggon, has this quest, this one aim in life, this holy grail that he and only he can find.

What is his claim to fame, or infamy?

Using almond pulp in something that tastes good and really works.

He's tried it in cookies, with fresh strawberries, dates, and chocolate mint, our dog loved them. LOL

Now he is at it again.
2 cups almond pulp
1 red pepper
4 cups red cherry tomatoes (whole-they will smush down to about 3)
1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
1 tsp sea salt
2 tsp fresh oregano
1/4 cup olive oil
4 cloves garlic
1 large white onion
1 cup zucchini
1 tsp italian spices
1 tsp pizza spice
1 tsp taco spice

he just kept adding stuff, until he liked the taste of the batter.

So, there you have his latest recipe, we'll see if the dog likes it too. LOL

I'm sorry, I'll taste it first.

YEP, he is dehydrating them as we speak, he LOVES to experiment,

If it had been a truly good year, even the almonds would be out of our gardens. (but he lets our friendly herd of deer and elk eat to their little heart's content)

He's about 90% to 95% raw, he makes all our raw foods, dinners, gourmet stuff, and he makes the best desserts, YUUMMMMYYY.

He also sets up most of the pretty food pics that I post, he is just good at everything. I am blessed.

It's refreshing to see a man enjoying himself in the kitchen! Sounds like you deserve to finally have a good man RP.

I found a recipie for Our Daily Bread Crackers that uses almond pulp, they're kinda tasteless though, you need to put something with flavor on them. Sometimes I just dehydrate my almond pulp and put it over grated apple with cinnamon and almond milk.

My quest is to make veggie bars. I used to buy Govinda Bars but I think they are no longer in bussiness, I can't find them on the web. Anyway they had a veggie bar I liked, I'm trying to remember everything that was in them. Right now I'm dehydrating tomatoes because I remember that was in the ingredients, also ginger and sprouted chia seeds, it's slowly coming back...

okay just an update on HIS crackers.

They are delicious.

They cracked all up, because he hates flax seeds, but they are delicious.

So, if you add a cup of flax seeds, or flax seed meal, it would probably hold together just fine.

We're going to use them on salads, in soups, etc.

OH, and our dog loves them too. LOL

Can you eat okra raw? Seems like I was told one time you can't, or maybe that was asparagus? If anybody knows anything about either, I would like to know.

Both are very good raw. The okra is useally blenderized and added to something else as a thichening agent or to hold something together or cut and dehydrated for the sake of texture. I believe it was Sweet Lips that posted a good okra recipe a while back. Asparagus is wonderful raw.

Essensual, I just rinse it break the tough ends off and eat it like it is. Or break into 1" or smaller pieces and add to salad. Or add it to stir dry. Rawkinlocs posted a good dehydrated recipe for stir dry. I do not dehydrate my stir fry. I just marinate my veggies in olive oil and soy sauce (not raw, nama shoyu if you have it) and put it over shredded cauliflower, which breaks up into small pieces like rice. Or you could marinate it in olive oil and lemon juice then dehydrate for more of a cooked asparagus taste. We like the raw taste much better than cooked and have eaten it in salads for years. Mmmm Mmmm Gooood!

Yep, as Doe posted, it is at the very beginning of this thread, and it is sooooooo good, tastes like pizza if you want them to stick together, than I would add as much as 1 cup of flax seeds

Well I put mine in the dehydrator, so I'm waiting. :) I didn't have any taco spice, so I improvised. They *smell* heavenly. Good job, Dragggon. And thanks for giving me something to use up the last of the cherry tomatoes. :D

Here's my favorite recipe to use up my almond pulp left over from making my almond milk:

Almond Pulp (from 2 cups of almonds)
Couple of Tbsp. of Raw Tahini
Juice of One Lemon
Clove of Garlic (chopped)
Sea Salt to taste
1/2 Med. Red Bell Pepper (chopped)
Olive Oil (or grapeseed)
Water (or almond milk)

I just throw it all in the cuisinart and let 'er rip. I don't ever really measure anything out - the olive oil and water I add at the end to get the pate to be the texture I like. Sometimes I leave out the pepper and it tastes more like Hummus and sometimes I add some of Alissa's pesto to it - it's sooo good!

Yay -- more almond pulp recipes! For some reason I love almond pulp from making milk. I think it tastes similar to those almond lace cookies I remember from childhood, probably because I put so many dates and so much vanilla in my almond milk. I don't have a dehydrator yet, so maybe someone else could try the almond cookie thing and let us know how it goes?? Mine should be here in a couple of weeks, and I'm planning to try making almond pulp cookies drizzled with the infamous caramel sauce, then dehyrated. Mmmmm! I'm hungry just thinking about it!

All of our almond pulp is unseasoned, we always make the almond milk, then once it is milk, we add vanilla, dates etc.

So, ours is really generic

These are really, really tasty! In fact, I've been pigging on them all evening. :D :D Oooops, was I supposed to save them to put on my salad? *looks at nearly empty tray* :o

Autumn, you can eat them from a tray,
you can eat them at the bay,
you can eat them in a car,
you can eat them at a bar,
you can eat them on a salad,
you can eat them whereever the heck you want.

Jo-anne,

no, Dragggon does not peel them first, he uses baby cherry tomatoes that he grew, so they are super tasty. YUMMMMM

Here is a pick of them in the creamy corn chowder we had for dinner last night.
