I have heard not to eat the 3 hours prior to bedtime, so since I go to bed at 10 that would mean dinner before 7. Tha'ts fairly simple but sometimes I get pretty hungry and have a nanner or like tonight- a banana and an orange. Is this truely detrimental to weight loss?
I usually don't eat the 3 hours before bedtime (incl the weekends when I stay up a tiny bit late) maybe I do 3x/week max- and I'm losing an average of 3lbs/week..... Maybe t hat will be the first thing to go when/if I hit a plateau?
thank you for your advice!

I think the 3 hour period is for digestive purposes and is about a meal.
If you are eating only fruit you should not have to wait that long before laying down. An apple would be digested and pass through an empty stomach in 30 minutes. A more concentrated fruit, like bananas or dried fruit, will take an hour.
That's my advice. I have found when I'm losing weight it is about how much I'm eating (or not eating), not what time I eat it.
If you feel okay with it and you still release weight, then it must be okay. :)

that's cool! I figured it was something about "listening to your body" etc and I'm not taking in a ton of calories for sure- that and the baby nurses all night almost too so I figure maybe those are calories she needs as well. If that makes any sense. thanks for the reply!

You are nursing a baby! How wonderful! I think you do get to eat a little extra. I remember the lactation consultant that visited me in the hospital when my daughter was born, (16 years ago), said that nursing burns a lot of calories.

if the baby is nursing all night - lord EAT UP!
Don't deprive baby of rich nutrient filled milk - worry about weight loss for yourself AFTERWARDS.
But you likely won't have to.
To repeat: no dieting for nursing mom!

Hey you! thanks for the tip- I agree, babies needs come first :) she's 9 months and also getting nutrients from raw foods (and some baby foods  ) and really she nurses at night mostly for comfort. (hard habit to break) I won't overdo it though for sure!

I know of children who've nursed for up to 2 1/2 years. Seems that's the best way to build the immune system. I don't see it as a "habit" but as something very natural.

well I meant the nighttime comfort nursing mostly. My older dd nursed to 18m until I got pregnant and it hurt to nurse. :( I have no problem with extended nursing or child-led weaning but I need sleep! I'm just hoping she'll self-wean from nightnursing soon :) or at least not want it every 20 mintues.

If/when I have a child, would LOVE to emulate this. Nursing is SO EXCELLENT.... my mother nursed 7 of her 9 children. The 7 smart ones. ;)

I am still nursing my 3 yr.old. I have nursed my last 3 children until they turned four. I'm not sure why 4, they just seem to change so much then. And they are some of the most out going, secure children. My older ones stopped nursing on their own at around 20 months. Go figure. Anyways.. I agree.. nursing is great for our children. I do want to add.. my 3 yr. old only nurses about 2 times a day now and its mostly a comfort thing. I've been reminding her that when she turns 4 soon, she''s a big girl and won't be nursing anymore. We'll see how she takes it.;)
Blessings,
Cathy :)

idk anything about nursing, but I do know that bananas have tryptophan in them which can help you sleep better (and perhaps the baby too via nursing??) so if you're eating late bananas are definitely the way to go. I love a good nana-induced sleep!! :p
