Since my question today about this wasn't noticed in my other thread about mandolines I am repeating it here.

Would someone please tell me (baltochef or Bruce maybe) which cut glove from www.katom.com is the right one to buy for use with a mandoline? I am willing to pay up to $20 but definitely not $95, which is what they are asking for one particular type. Is anyone out there familiar with these? And do you think a woman would normally use a "small" size?

Thanks rawbies for any help you can give me here.

xoxo
Sue.

I just wanted to chime in and tell you I use a ratty old hot mitt (which is still very padded, not falling apart, just old). Works like a charm and keeps my hand safe.

I hadn't heard of those gloves before.

I don't think I can be much help as I have never used one. One thing you might consider is looking at them in person at a fishing/bait shop, or a sporting goods store. There you could get a better feel for size.

Thanks WendyLouWho and streetsurfer - I finally e-mailed the people who have the gloves which someone recommended here on RFT and they told me which one to order and I am going to take a chance and order the small size - that is safer than too big I think and it's under 15.00.:)

Glad you got the info. I used the $15 model in a commercial (sadly non-raw environment) for over a year and was quite pleased at the protection it afforded. Care should of course stiil be taken, especially as a mandonline is the most dangerous piece of equipment in a kitchen. Please let us know how your choice works out for you.
