Hi, I'm new to this website and I have been 95% raw for 2 months because I ate steamed potatoes during that time and this is my 7th day being 100% raw and before when I wasn't 100% raw I remember only having 1 pimple. Now I am breaking out allll over my face, and even have 2 rashes. It's impossible to cover with makeup and I want to have clear skin by spring. Should I start eating a little cooked food again and slow my detoxification process? I might be wrong but I think I'm breaking out so much because it's too fast of a change, but I'm afraid if i eat cooked food again that I will break out even more. I'm not sure what to do, and I would like to know how long til the detox process is over?
Because I'm really thinking about eating cooked food so I won't lose so much toxins at once, and maybe my breakouts will go away.

Hey there Lilly,
Just wondering what raw foods your diet would mainly conist of? Do you feel much better since you started going 95% raw?
Maybe it is part of the detoxification process, I'm not sure but like cleaning your bedroom it usually gets worse before it gets better.
Personally my skin really improves on raw. are you stressed or anything like that? are you drinking lots of water?
Sure post the staple foods you eat and im sure all the smart people here will help ya out

Lilly -- can you give us more details on what you're eating for the 95% Raw/Living Foods? How much water intake? Do you do Green Smoothies?
You're right that eating cooked foods will slow down the detox, but the reason it will do that is simply that it will PROLONG your detox... you don't REALLY want the detox to last even longer, do you? ;)

Cooked foods might stop the detox. If you need to slow it down you could do that by eating more fats. Avocado and coconut oil are good choices.
I had terrible skin before going raw. At first my skin seemed to get better, then a couple months after going raw I went through a period of skin problems. My forehead and chin broke out in tiny pimples that looked like a rash, and I had a bout of rosacea on one cheek. I was told to stop scrubbing, wash with a gentle soap, lightly pat dry, and moisturize. It was the right advice for my problem. It might work for you, too.
Hard choice whether to slow down detox or get it over with quickly. Since you are already dealing with it, quickly might be the best option.

Coconut oil is great for breakouts. It seems counterintuitive but in my experience it works really well. Lightly cover face in coconut oil before bed. Wash well in the morning.

I have been eating Papaya, spinach, lemons, cashews, apples, oranges, bananas, avocado, tomatoes, cucumbers, garlic, young coconuts, raw apple cider vinegar, and water every day
I did drink a lot of water yesterday, it helped a little bit I don't know how long until my breakouts will be completly over or what foods speed up the process:confused:

I wish I could use coconut oil. I love putting it on my skin before getting a little sun and rubbing it on my feet. Unfortunately, putting it on my face has proved to be very bad. Far to rich for my skin type.

I'm going to try coconut oil, I researched a little bit and everything I read said how coconut oil cleared their acne really well, so I will try that, thank you!
My breakouts are just getting worse and worse now that Im raw, but strangely I feel happy which doesn't really make sense but I do for some reason:)

I have been using Coconut oil for about a month now. I do breakout from time to time, but not as much as before. It also did not help my Rosacea at all. My skin does feel a bit softer, though. It also beats using harsh moisturizers.

everything i've read about cleansing suggests that your body prefers to eliminate waste through your bowels before your skin and that often rashes and breakouts are the result of not going to the bathroom enough.
i'd suggest:
1. more fiber, esp flax and leafy greens
2. more water
3. more exercise (to help you sweat out toxins)
4. oil cleansing method with a high castor oil ratio if your skin is oily (to clean your pores)
none of those things could hurt. :)
