Has anyone ordered this from the website? Our Whole Foods doesn't carry it, so I was going to order straight from the site, but can't find where I add to cart, or what the price is.
Anyone know?
Thanks!!

I called them today and talked to the lady that owns the company, and she was SO nice!!! We talked for awhile, and she told me that they would have everything up and ready to sell on the site by March. Right now they only have the Aminos, and the Vinegar. She said they were having a hard time shipping the Aminos because it is so "alive" that when they bottle it up, and then UPS or FedEx gets a hold of it and tosses it around, the enzymes and nutrients really get active and starts fizzing and by the time it arrives it's all leaking out. She said they are working on the packaging.
She is also frustrated that the stores that are carrying it are charging too much. She says they are retailing it for $5.99 (Aminos) and $5.69 (Vinegar)
and is thinking that the Nectar will be around $7.99
She is very excited about their Nectar and was telling me about how pure it was.
I can't wait till they start selling. She was so nice that I'm excited about supporting her company.

It is available online here:

I am placing a really large order today :) My kids will love the coconut flour and for the size, I think it will be much cheaper than guar gum as a thickening agent for our cooked recipes!

I wonder if I could use a little coconut flour in coconut milk to make a thicker ice cream? My oldest hates bananas and that's what we have been using.

i started carrying all the Coconut Secret products at my store- coconut nectar, crystals, flour, aminos, and vinegar. they're all AWESOME. I just made nut-less brownies with coconut flour and they're really great. Coconut nectar is great and tasty but i prefer the crystals because of the powdery texture!

I purchased it at our local health food store and i love it:)
It's a mild sweet taste, great to drizzle over fruit and nuts in the morning or oatmeal.
If you make a drink you can use it in there but remember the taste is not that strong, not to me and it's not thick like agave.
If you don't like you tea too sweet you can use it in there too.
It's a little pricey to me but still good to have around.
I'm glad its a low gtycemic sweetener so i don't have to worry about high calories.
I think you will like it very much, i do.

I placed an order online early this morning - they called me this afternoon to ask about Raw Food Talk - apparently several of us are jumping on the bandwagon.

Anyway, they are so nice and very helpful!

For those of you with local health food stores, you can get this locally!

I just sent the following in an email to my local HFS, you are welcome to copy/paste it or share the info if you want to share the love. The order numbers are the numbers for UNFI, the distributor for Coconut Secret for bulk orders.

:)

--------------------------

Hey Elio! I'm so pleased to know you can carry these products. Here is the info I told you about...

Coconut Secret - These products are pretty new - have been a HUGE HIT in Florida where I taught classes - super natural alternatives for agave nectar/sugar/soy sauce. This company is going to be HUGE.

Nectar: 0131359 <---- Replacement for agave nectar/honey/syrups ---- I would like 2 jars.
Aminos: 0137679 <----- Replacement for soy sauce/Bragg's liquid aminos/Tamari ---- I would like 2 jars.
Vinegar: 0137689 <---- Replacement for vinegar ---- I would like 1 jar ---- but I have some in stock so can wait if needed.
Crystals: 0131419 <---- Replacement for sugar ---- I would like 2 bags.
Flour: 0131439 <---- I do NOT want to try this yet but am making note because I have the information here.

Just received my order from UPS - OMG!!! The Coconut Nectar is divine! And the crystals . . . oh, and the aminos!

I will try the flour later this week when I have time to un-bake.

Thanks Cathy for the post!

I bought a bottle of Coconut Secret Nectar and a bottle of the vinegar a couple days ago. I tasted it at Raw Vegan Source. I think the nectar has a salty taste. It reminded me of sweet teriyaki sauce, which is what I'm going to make with it.

Next time, I hope to have enough extra money to buy a can of the flour and sugar. I've tried several drinks and chocolate bar creations made with the powdered coconut sugar at potlucks. Looking forward to experimenting with it for myself.

Thanks for the link, Summer!

My Whole Foods only carries the aminos and vinegar. But, I really want the nectar, crystals and flour.

Just imagine truffles coated with the crystals! For Christmas! WOW!

I want to try to make a wrap in my EX with the flour....can't wait! Green wraps = spinach and coconut flour. Red wraps = red bell pepper and coconut flour. Hmmm...

p.s. WF's had the aminos and vinegar for about $5.69 each. Not bad!

Walnutty - if you can get young Thai coconuts you can make colored coconut wraps.
4 cups young coconut meat, chopped
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 veggie juice for color (carrot=orange, beet=reddish purplish, spinach=green, etc.)
Blend the coconut meat and salt til smooth.Add veggie juice to color. Spread onteflex sheets and dehydrate for 4-5 hours and trim outer edges 1/4-1/2 inch and cut to desired shape. Wrap in plastic and store in fridge. Bring to room temp before using.

I have not tried this recipe yet. Please let us know how it works if you try it.

Went to a nearby Whole Foods and they had the vinegar and the aminos. Came home and split open an avocado. Removed the pit and filled the cavity with the vinegar. YUM!!! Can't wait to experiment with the aminos!

I filled out a little slip asking if WF was planning on carrying the crystals, nectar and flour.

Yes, I have heard of doing it this way too...BUT all that work and it's about $12 for 4 young coconuts in my area.

If the raw, organic coconut flour would work, I would prefer to do it that way.

Thanks, though! :)

Very excited to try them!!!
Does anyone want to share some recipes that they plan on making with the coconut products? I could use some ideas.
YEAH!!

Does anyone know beyond what they've written on maxamlabs site how this is made? I realize it says raw, unprocessed, no heat - - but how can that be? How can they make a nectar and sugar crystals with no heat? I guess I'm still confused over the agave warnings...

I'm not trying to be a trouble maker - I'm really curious. I would *love* something truly raw and low glycemic to replace agave.

I ask because I order from Azure Standard (http://www.azurestandard.com/product.php?id=SW187)and this is what they say about the coconut sugar crystals they carry from Earth Circle Organics:

"...Coconut sugar is made by evaporating the coconut sap, which is hand-harvested by traditional sugar farmers who climb high into the canopy of coconut palms to slice the blossoms from their stems and collect the sweet nectar. The collected nectar is then kettle-boiled into a thick caramelly syrup, dried, and ground into crystals. "

DebB ~ I emailed them directly and was told ALL of their products are indeed raw. Check out their site CoconutSecret.com and be sure to read the About Us page.

My local HFS carries their vinegar and aminos and so does a relatively nearby Whole Foods. I have filled out customer comment slips at both stores asking if they will please carry the nectar, flour, and crystals.
:::keeping fingers crossed::: (yes, that does make for tricky typing :p)

DebB,

Right on to you for questioning this. It's so important that we make sure about these things.

I'm another one quite excited about the Coconut Secret line. I've tried the Aminos and they are really good! I bought a bottle for my mom who had to cut out soy sauce from her diet. She loves it too.

Anyhow, I took this from the Coconut Secret site right where somelikeitraw said the answer would be:

"Coconut sugar is made by collecting the “sap” from coconut tree blossoms. Who knew?! There are specific species of coconut trees that can be “tapped” (much like maple trees are tapped in the maple syrup making process). Bamboo containers are used to collect the sap of the coconut trees right at the blossoms. When the coconut trees are tapped, they produce a continuously flowing “inflorescence” (juice or sap) that exudes from the coconut blossoms. This naturally sweet sap is very low glycemic (GI of only 35, with only 16% sucrose), raw and enzymatically alive, is an abundant source of 17 amino acids, minerals, vitamin C, broad-spectrum B vitamins, and has a nearly neutral pH. It is then minimally evaporated for less than an hour (only to remove excess moisture), at low temperatures, never exceeding an average summer day in the tropics. The end result is a syrup-like product known as coconut “toddy”, which is then further evaporated into crystal form to produce the coconut sugar."

The toddy is the Coconut Nectar.

From what I read right at this link, http://coconutsecret.com/crystals2.html
It sounds that when they further evaporate it into crystals it's also at low temperatures for 90 mins.

:)

Yes, and that "coconut toddy" is their coconut nectar.

I didn't get email notifications :(.

The nectar has an almost salty, molasses taste to me, but it made some great cookies (baked - we are about 85% raw going for for 100% eventually).

I have everything but the coconut flour... Anyone have recipes for the flour for cookies or breakfast items? We are gluten-free, corn-free, soy-free but do raw milk.

Also, I have some coupons from the newsletter (http://www.maxamlabs.com/enews/2010-05-15.html), if anyone is interested. These expire 06/15/2010.
$10 off orders of $50 or more - 10OFF
$15 off orders of $100 or more - 15OFF
$20 off orders of $150 or more - 20OFF

Yeah...and, to me, ever-so-slightly sour. It tastes very different than as I expected, but I do like it. The crystals and aminos are cool. I've yet to sample the vinegar. I saw the flour but didn't buy it, though I might the next time I see it.

I've had the aminos and the vinegar. The vinegar tastes just like ACV - no hint of coconut whatsoever.

The aminos is very yummy - somewhat like a teriyaki sauce :)

I've got all five products now. The nectar, aminos, and vinegar combined with fresh ginger and garlic made a great teriyaki sauce.

The coconut flour doesn't have much flavor. The coconut crystals look and taste EXACTLY like brown sugar.

Cathy

I wonder what what then means when other companies ship it? It's not a concern or an issue for them? How is it arriving to customers? Inquiring minds would like to know. :)
