I just reread alissa's book and she talks about making nut butters but I cannot find a specific recipe and process to do so...are there any recommendations to make them very smooth? As well I bought some raw oat kernels and I am wondering if there is a procedure or process that works really well. I found a fabulous little organic grainery that is 5 minutes from my daughters preschool...cheap cheap cheap:) I see a mountain of possibilities but not sure how to use all my new found organic seeds and grains.

A Vita-Mix will always make ANYTHING smooth and silky. It will grind, glide and even do a dance for you. I think its a RAWinner:). When making Butters in the Vita-Mix...you don't want to run it too long and have it overheat, thus cooking your butters. This Recipe elieveates that. You can always grind the nuts and add liquid.........

Almond Butter
3 cups RAW, sprouted almonds

Grind in Food Processor until rice size bits.

Remove and add to Vita-Mix with Sea Salt, 2 Tablespoons GrapeSeed Oil

Run in the Vita-Mix, alternating the Speed to keep it from getting to Hot, about a Minute or less.

But I do not have a vita mix...yet! I am saving up for one. I will have to buy nut butters for now. I found raw almond butter yesterday at the grocery store down the road!!!!! so though it isnt fresh made it is good for some recipes:) thank you again!

You can just continue to stir and pulse in the Food Processor.
