View Full Version : What is wrong with this Champion juicer?

Yesterday, I fed spinach, parsely, lemon, cucumber, and ginger through it. Most of the pulp caught in the screen, the pulp that came out of end was sooo runny and full of juice, there was barely any juice coming out of the bottom and when we refed the juicy pulp through, it didn't help much at all. I feel like I've wasted $220 as I haven't really used it for what I was intending to use it for which was making different flavored banana whips for my kiddies.

It's the parsley. When you use anything like parsley, celery, kale or anything stringy, or with stems, you must clean the screen, auger & chute more than once. You'll know when it's time, because things start to bog and the tamper gets harder to push down. To clean the auger, a brush works best, under running water).
I've had my Champion for over 30 years, and it is absolutely wonderful. But it won't behave like a $500 Greenstar. Yet it's a real workhorse and really a great juicer in its own right. Don't despair. Just work with it, ok? ;) :)

what ER said...
cut your celery into small pieces, that helps as well. i always put celery in last... after i make the rest of the juice.
and greens are best wrapped around a chuck of carrot or apple and fed through that way.
Not only do I cut up my celery as Aleesha suggests - but I cut up my parsley as well.
I do something similar too in that I put in something juicy like a piece of cucumber or apple, then some greens (not a lot), then juicy, etc. It works well that way.
When I make 1-2 quarts of juice, I'll have to stop and clean off the blade and screen 1-2 times during the juicing. Don't be discouraged - I've had mine for over 25 years and it's still going strong. *Ü*
