View Full Version : Seeing benefits

I am definitely seeing benefits from eating all raw, but I read some of the journals and I see astounding benefits in a very short time.
I have been doing all raw since 9/1 and was 85-95% raw before that for a good 2 months.
I am still very fatigued and do have bursts of energy, but for the most part I'm tired alot and feel like if I could get a nap in daily that would help. I was falling asleep at church on Sunday and then got in a 20 minute nap. Was still tired Sunday night.
I've read where people have 180 degree turn around in less than a month.
Is this normal? Are some people just slower at healing their bodies than others?
I was eating good cooked foods when I was 85-95% raw.
Any ideas?

I do believe every Body is different and will have different results. I was one who had amazing results in a very short time. I believe this was because I was very overweight, all my issues and health problems turned out to be directly food related, and I went from a very poor SAD diet to raw.

We all have different lifestyle factors. We all have different patterns in our bodies. For example, I suffered terrible neck/head/shoulder pain for 17 years that also brought me sleep issues. This vanished immediately on raw. After a few months raw, I ate cooked food ( wheat ) and it immediately came back. So you can see there that this was how my body was trying to deal with the wheat and toxins.

Your body will be dealing with different things-in a different way. This was a weak spot for me. Yours will be different, and so will your benefits.Your body will work on its biggest internal priority first, and that for you may not be as visible as it was for me with chronic pain.

If it is busy rebuliding and repairing organs for example, you wont see such visible signs of this as pain vanishing. Does this make sense?

It will happen for you. Believe that. Its not always a strike of lightening, sometimes it is very subtle changes that one day, when compiled, become visible.

Blessings~

You might want to try adjusting the amount of fat in your diet. I notice that I feel much more energetic on days that I don't have any overt fats (nuts, seeds, oil or avos). I tend to only have fats for dinner because I know they will make me tired and it won't matter if I get tired in the evening.

Best of luck to you!

I agree with that, chilove, too much and/or the wrong fats cause various ailments.

Hopefully, you'll be feeling better soon, vegggeeemom! These things take time, though; I always think of, "It took 20, 30, (whatever) years to get you this way!" :) Don't know where I first read that; but it's a good reminder. Give it some time; complete healing doesn't happen overnight. :)

I know this sounds counter productive when you're tired already, but are you getting any outdoor exercise. At first it may even tire you more, but as you build stamina, your energy will increase as well.

I went through similiar bouts of tiredness when I began raw. It was just something I had to work through. I think my body healing, getting used to raw, losing weight, and breathing deeper have all helped. Hang in there.

And so what if you have to take a nap, take it, wake up refreshed, have a cool juicy orange, and get two days out of one.

I KNOW you are right Carlene and it's something I struggle with.
Mh dh has even offered to exercise with me. I know I should do it and once I do, I feel great. I was a great exerciser before and got some awesome results and my body really toned up.
It's just taking the plunge to do it!
I go in spurts and exercise well and then slack off and then back on and then off.
I just need to do it consistently.

Pam,

Maybe we need to take a 30 excerise challenge?!?!?!

I find that I have way more energy when I work out... But I, too, don't take the time to excerise..Silly,, like I just couldn't do 30 min in the morning  I"M not THAT busy :) Plus it helps me start my day and keeps me raw... ANd of course tones and flattens my tummy...

OK,, how DO you spell that word, excersise...excsersise,, exerscise,, HOW??? :o

EXERCISE

( grins )... cuz.. I'm SO not the Spelling Queen! I just play one on T.V..

Speaking of exercise... Jamie and Pam - get some basic pilates on DVD.
The beginner sort.. they work.

Lesley Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds - ... after 2 miles.. will kick your fanny!

I can't remember the name of it now, but there's a DVD out on high muscle toning... I was thinking of getting it for myself this month. When I do, I'll let you know how it works.

Muscle is easy to feed, it's easier to carry around, it looks better, and it is give and take. The more muscle mass we gain ( nice and lean if we're not body building ), the more thin we're going to be, and the healthier our bones are going to be in later life.

So, if you're up for adding in 2 weeks of EXERCIZE, EXERSISE, EXERCISE...( lol.. I hate spelling those words )..

BRING IT ON

You know, we do have 2 weeks left of the September 30 day challenge!
I'm going to do it! I'm going to take a 2 week challenge, the remaining of this month and see if I will get my self in gear and exercise!
Starting today, I'm going to exercise!
I've thought about doing an exercise challenge! But, like some people are afraid to take the 30 day raw challenge, I'm that way with the exercise challenge, but I'm up for it!

Alright, Pam...

Gear up, Seeesta....

I can put in some pilates while the kids are in the other room playing their music ( ugh.. drums, guitars... )

Tomorrow will be easier for my kids, they have two show performances, Sunday.. I'm not excercising before dark on Sunday. LOL

My husband took me for our trail walk - I had to quit because my new shoes do not fit properly. I thought I was going to permanently damage myself if I kept going. LOL awwwwww... I was disappointed.

Renee, let me know what and where you order your pilates videos!
My dh has agreed to exercise with me if it helps me just DO IT!
I am so mad at myself. I left the double stroller in the car and really really wanted to go for a walk today.
But, dh will be home before 9 pm tonight, so after errands, I'll go for a good walk!

Oh yeah, not having good fitting shoes is not good for a long walk!
Hey, I love a challenge and exercising is a big challenge for me, so maybe this is a good start. After the 2 weeks, I should just add on another 2 weeks and just make it my 30 day exercise challenge! :)

OK, well I tried the pilates once and couldn't do it,, for one of the exercises(ok,,,did i spell that right? Sometimes I frighten myself that I homeschool my children  ) anyways, one of the exercises,, can't remember which one,, I could NOT DO AT ALL.. I say my boobs are too big,, hubby says NO!! funny...
But I did hear that the walk away the pounds is great! I tried to find it locally and couldn't, I should order it online. Actually I love to run, should just get out and do it.

You guys are all so great!!! Thanks for all the encouragement and spelling lessons.

Now, I"m gonna go make sure the kids can spell exercise..

Jamie :)

Jillian Hessel's PILATES FOR BEGINNERS FROM GAIAM

is what I use. She's gentle. She's accomodating in that she says you can use a chair to help you, you can use a towel or pillows.. anything that will help you take a locked up body and make it more supple with use.

She and another man do the breathing and warm-up exercises. He never speaks, I don't think.

Then, during the sets, she introduced a younger girl. One does the advanced version, one does the mid-land version..and the other does the complete locked-up beginner version.

So, if you're having trouble with the on-the-belly stretched and strength training, you can use props!

Lesley Sansone: She's all over the place!

I have her older versions on video tape - and the blue weighted balls ( necessary! )

I still haven't gotten to see that high muscle tone work out, but I saw another today that looks extremely intriguing:

All of my family could use some reeducation on coordination, balance and strength. I could definitely see us outback doing these!
