I bought Alissa's "un"cook book about 4+ years ago (hard to believe it was that long ago!). I was in an unhappy marriage, had a financially unsustainable business and had gotten fat and depressed. I had some success with going raw but my depression and unhappiness drove me back to the comfort of a SAD lifestyle.

Fast forward and I am divorced, have rebuilt my career, am planning to go to graduate school next fall and in most areas of my life am thriving. I completed multiple weeks on a food therapy program and it was a phenomenal experience. Combined with 3 years of therapy I really got in touch with how dependent/addicted to food I have been and was ready to make a change.

I decided to pull out Alissa's book and watch both DVD's to listen to her talk about her choice to go raw and to reassure myself that there would be plenty of satisfying and not difficult to prepare food choices. I was so inspired! I am turning 53 in February and hope to have another 53 healthy and vibrant years on the planet. I live near San Francisco so have the wonderful raw restaurant Cafe Gratitude to look forward to when I want a special meal out. And because my job involves frequent travel to the New England, am planning to get to one of the Grezzo restaurants when I next visit.

So grateful for this board to have a community to share with! Wishing the best to all for a healthy and Raw 2010!

Thanks for the well wishes!

Aleesha - I understand why you edited my reference to the program I was on but to be clear - I did not do a weight loss program. The program I did was about understand one's relationship with food and can be combined with any type of weight loss program. Some people adopt a Raw food program, some use Weight Watchers, and some choose not to do any program at all but to just become more present with how they use food to cope with life.

Thanks,

Cathy
