Hi everyone,

Parties are my biggest challenge to staying raw. I can eat raw at home, and mostly I eat raw at restaurants, but parties are a different story. When there are plates right in from of me of brownies, sweets and dairy foods, I just cave. I don't feel I can stand up to that kind of temptation. I don't eat meat. It's not appealing to me, but dairy beckons me. I went to a party this week-end, and I ate macaroni and cheese, cheese and crackers, a brownie and a piece of birthday cake. The rest of what I at was okay, salad (with cooked olives) and some celery sticks.
So today I'm starting a 3 day juice fast. I've juiced twice today, each time have cucumber, celery, zuchinni. I put some sprouts in my morning juice, as well. I haven't done a 3 day juice fast for about 3 months. I've done a couple 1 day juice fasts though. In the past, some 3 day juice fasts were pretty easy. I mostly felt energetic. I've been raw for 2 years. But considering some of the things I've put in my body lately, I may have some detox symptoms. I'm a little worried about that. I've got some work to do in the next few days, and I don't want to be too out of it. On the other hand, I know I need this fast, and I need it NOW.

Anyways, I guess I'm just looking for some support here. I'm sure lots of you have experienced this, too.

We've all been there, and each one of us has our triggers.

See parties are easy for me, because I just don't go to them. I know they are a big challenge. When I MUST go to something where there is tons of non raw foods, then I make sure I eat tons of raw food before I go, and I take tons of raw foods with me, as my contribution.

Sometimes we can't do that, for whatever reason, but usually I can get through it. Mostly I choose abstinance.

Also, when I must go out to some kind of social gathering. I just make sure I am there for the wonderful conversation, and make sure that I am in the most interesting conversation, as I can't eat while talking.

I like the talking tactic you take. That's great. Next time I should go with the intention of talking up a storm. I'll think of topics ahead of time. That'll be great.

I usually eat a lot of raw food before going to parties, but I didn't this time which probably accounts for the extreme I went to in eating dairy.

Thanks for your experiences and support!
