I'm sorry if this post is in the wrong section, wasn't sure where to put it. I recently spilled red sports drink on the carpet  and after seeing what it did to the carpet and how hard it was to remove I started researching the ingredients and what it may be doing to my body. I have decided to can the sports drinks but was wondering does anyone have a natural alternative, something with a bit extra electrolyte than water?

I have a storage of raw info available when I need it. Been raw long enough to have tons of resources.

Coconut is my all time favourite drink. I never miss the chance to drink those botak chilled coconuts from Thailand.

Thanks.

Coconut water is awesome - it is refreshing, cooling, and really does help replace electrolytes in a completely safe, natural way. Mother Nature provides once again. Think of all those hot countries where coconuts are plentiful, filled with that water - perfect for replenishing oneself in the heat! On our first trip to Hawaii, our friends there took us to a friend of theirs, and we sampled coconut water from various coconuts, all from his back yard - divine! My husband was just telling me that one could freeze coconut water in ice cube trays to add to smoothies so they don't get as watered down as with ice, too.

Coconut water is great (it's rarely labelled as 'young coconut water', look for just 'coconut water').

Otherwise a cheaper solution I really like is to fill a glass almost to the top with water, add the juice of one lime or lemon, a small amount of sea salt, maybe 1/8 to 1/16th teaspoon depending on the size of your glass and stevia to sweeten to taste. This tastes just like lemonade or limeade. Don't put so much salt that it gets salty, just enough to add electrolytes and to boost the taste a bit.

I took Dimond's archive and hypercrammed it into one super drink.

1 Young Thai Coconut's worth Water/ Meat
2 Red Bananas (these are small you could just use 1 yellow banana)
1 Celery Stalk
3 Medjool Dates
small handful of Dulse Flakes
handful of Blueberries
1 Lime
a spritz of Olive Oil

Super delicious, ever had seaweed celery bubblegum?

I just ran across this recipe in O magazine and wonder if it would do, I certainly want to try it as it is quick and easy to make. Chia has omega 3, more calcium than milk, and antioxidents. According to the article the Tarahumara Indians in Mexico grind chia into a paste to fuel their legendary 100 mile runs so this drink may do the trick.

Chia Fresca
6 oz cold water
1 teaspoom chia seeds
squirt of lemon or lime juice to taste
raw honey to taste

Mix, wait few minutes for chia to turn slightly gelatinous and drink.

I wonder if there would be any benefit to changing the water in this to coconut water...or if it would alter the results in a negative way. Guess I'll have to try it out and see!

Thanks again everyone!! :)

Oh wow! Awesome idea. Didn't think of that but I bet it would make the drink even better.

Did anyone try the chia fresca? I did and it is really nice and refreshing. It is a riot every single time I try a new recipe raw because I am telling myself, "I don't know about this" thinking it won't be good and then I am pleasantly surprised by the results.

So...I tried it with water, it was good, probably added a bit much honey, will make it less sweet next time.

I tried it with fresh young coconut juice, very good but this time I probably added a bit much lemon juice.

Verdict: both are very nice drinks and need tweaking on lemon juice or honey according to taste. The chia seeds really have no flavor and nearly dissolve but have little flecks left.
