I woke up today and hubby told me that one of my eyes is bloodshot!

Might be a sty. Try putting a hot as you can stand it wrung out wash cloth on your closed eye. Do it a couple times. It seems to draw out the infection when I do it.

ahem, emphasis on hot as you can stand;)
I've had eye problems my entire 18 years on this planet, and bloodshot eyes can be caused by any number of things:
Styes don't cause bloodshot eyes, not normally anyway because they cause the eyelid to swell not affecting the eyeball itself.
I get bloodshots eyes when I'm undersleeping, or have strained my eyes (by staring at the computer screen for too long). I also used to have several medications to combat this and sometimes it seemed dry eyes can become bloodshot. Allergies can also cause bloodshot eyes but because only one of your eyes is bloodshot, I would say you have got some dirt or something in your eye and it has caused a breakout. :)

Go look at the sun or out inot the sun wiht no sunglasses. If you have photophobia (the eye shuts or weeps) in natural light, you more than likely got pink eye.
Altenatively, if it is bright red (think bright bloody cherry red) you may have broke a blood vessel in your eye. No big deal, I did this in kindergarten when i was 5 and it goes away within a week or two.
Or..have you not changed your contacts every month and now you got irritated eyes cuz they have turned into little plastic pieces of sandpaper (that is bad bad bad...). Everyone should take one optomietry course. You will never do anything bad to your eyes again.
