I was kind of experimenting in the kitchen with some raw food. I wanted to come up with a yummy raw granola bar recipe and a nice rye bread recipe. Both turned out so yummy so I figured I would share!

Raw Rye Bread

This turned out surprisingly well! I really missed my rye bread so I was determined to come up with a nice mild rye that I could enjoy with some avocado, tomatoes and lettuce. I also put some balsamic vinegar and olive oil on the sandwich.

Ingredients:

2 Cups sprouted rye berries
2 Tablespoons of dry mustard
2 Tablespoons of red onion
1 1/2 Teaspoons of onion powder
sea salt to taste
1 Tablespoon of raw honey
Raw pumpkin seeds

Directions:

In food processor, combine the rye berries, dry mustard, red onion, onion powder, sea salt and honey. Process until a crumbly bread type consistency. Add raw pumpkin seeds and pulse until mixed well. Form into a 1/4 inch thick rectangle or square and score pieces of bread, dehydrate at 135 for an hour and then lower to 115 for about 8hours or overnight or until crisp on outside and dry but soft on inside.

Raw Granola Bars
I will be posted a pick shortly. I was looking for something different for breakfast, other than a smoothie or raw outmeal and cereal. My raw granola bars really hit the spot!

Cranberry and Brazil Nut Granola Bars

Ingredients:

2 Cups sproated buckwheat
Cinnamon to taste
8 to 10 dates
pinch of sea salt
1/2 Cup ground flax seeds
Handful of brazil nuts, chopped slightly
Handful of dried cranberries
vanilla extract

Directions:

Please buckwheat, cinnamon, dates, sea salt, flax seeds and vanilla in food processor. Process until mixed well and a very lumpy oatmeal texture. Add in brazil nuts and dried cranberries and pulse until mixed well. Leave brazil nuts and cranberries very chunky. Shape into little bars and dehydrate at 115 until dry on outside and soft on inside, approx. 10 hours.

Christina, Thank you for sharing generously . I will definitely try the bread recipe in a few days.

One question concerning red onions. When trying another Corn Chips recipe using red onions, my corn chips had a bitter taste unless I soaked the chopped-up red onions first in cold water (in refrigerator for a day). It seems I have to do this soaking with every type of onions (sweet onion, yellow onions, white onions) in order to get rid of the bitter taste. But the raw recipes I have seen so far don't call for soaking onions in water. So I just wonder if others don't mind the bitterness or what?

Well, I haven't tasted any bitterness but maybe its happens when fully breaking down the onions like if you used a vitamix? Not sure but it would definitely be good to get other's opinions too. I think you should do whatever works for you. Since our taste buds are all different, you might be more sensitive to them.
